Man’s landing on the moon is 45 years old

Yes, today, July 20 is the non-circular anniversary of man’s landing on the Earth’s natural satellite. A man landed on the moon on July 20, 1969, at 20:18 UTC.

The successful landing on the moon was carried out by the crew of the Apollo 11 ship , or rather, two crew members who went to the moon from the Apollo on the landing module. Actually, we all know who was the first to step on the surface of the moon: Neil Armstrong became this person. The landing area is the southwestern part of the Sea of Tranquility. By the way, astronauts not only walked on the moon, but also traveled, although they could have flown .

After that, people landed five more times on the surface of the moon, during the period from 1969 to 1972. After that, the lunar program was forgotten, it is claimed, due to the fact that taxpayers in the USA were quickly bored with lunar gray landscapes, baseball was more interesting. Accordingly, the funds that were previously allowed to develop the exploration of the Moon had to be put in a different direction, closer to taxpayers, they opposed the huge costs of the lunar program. True, many miss the fact that the achievements of the lunar program (and the entire space program of the USSR / USA in general), and there were a huge number of them - technical innovations, new materials, new devices, became the basis for a further technological breakthrough, the consequences of which we feel still.

Other states did not send their expeditions to the moon, for the most part, due to the fact that lunar voyages required huge funds (the USA and the USSR during the space race almost "overstrained" in economic terms) and such voyages did not bring any real benefits (except for purely scientific results).

Now, some experts argue that at that time it would be better for a person not to fly to the moon, since now, after landing on the moon, it would be possible to build a research station, albeit a small one. And then the technology did not allow to implement a reliable project of the lunar settlement / station.

After a long period of oblivion, the Moon was remembered again, although Mars is the top priority for the same NASA agency. But now other countries are already expressing interest in the exploration of the moon, including, for example, China, which sent its own lunar rover. He showed quite interesting results, although it has been “freezing” since February of this year .

Be that as it may, man’s landing on the moon is a huge achievement of science, technology and society as a whole.

We would like to see soon the first human landing on Mars. Before this, one must think, is not far away.
