Frozen computer and useful Hruker: what will surprise NeoQUEST-2014

Less than a week is left before NeoQUEST-2014, and we will once again highlight the key aspects of the event, for which everyone interested in information security should visit us! Moreover, our list of reports has been expanded.
Recall that NeoQUEST will be held in St. Petersburg, and admission for all registered on the site is free!

Of the key events of NeoQUEST:

1. Cold-boot attack . First, the speaker will talk about what TPM is, teach you how to use TPM version 1.2 and AES-NI, talk about Intel TXT, and all this with examples of source codes for real open projects. On the Fingers will tell how BitLocker works, how it uses TPM. And then - a demonstration of hacking BitLocker'a method of cold reset. Some of the audience will even be able to help us in organizing the attack! Under the cut - a small video with our experiment with liquid nitrogen “under operating conditions”.



2. "Useless PC Speaker . " How long have you been using a device like PC Speaker (or simply, “Hruker”)? We are sure that for a long time. And we found him a useful and non-trivial application, which we will tell about. We will encode data using PC Speaker in different ways and transfer it from one computer to another, both by wire and by air.

3. Escape room, hacker edition : have you ever dreamed to feel like a spy-cracker, skillfully avoiding all the technical traps set by vigilant guards on the way to the goal? If so, you are definitely here! Attentiveness, ingenuity and technical skills will help to get out of the room, and the one who does it the fastest will have a prize!

4.Hackquest for the winners of the online tour . Let's not forget about our best participants in NeoQUEST-2014: they will start to fight for the main prize (a trip to the international conference on information security) and save the world (stop the rocket) an hour earlier than the NeoQUEST reports start. The guys are waiting for tasks from the field of mobile security, web security and competitive intelligence, hardware and more. For all participants in the quest, we have prepared prizes, however, as for the guests of NeoQUEST, who will be able to prove themselves both virtually, in the “Unified State Examination” and in real time.

5. Competitions . In between reports, guests will be entertained by charismatic Dmitry Kuzenyatkin(pictured), always able to surprise and amuse. Together with Dmitry, the NeoQUEST team came up with a lot of various contests, and not all of them are directly related to information security. Some of them will not let guests forget about what the heroic participants of hackquest are saving us from!


In addition to the above, guests of the event are waiting for: mesh-networks, L4, anonymous I2P and Tor networks, a report on the insecurity of USB smartphone synchronization, cyber threats of car software components, and much more!
