Apple's smart home is coming: probably the announcement is already on Monday

Apple is preparing a new software platform that will turn the iPhone into a smart home control panel. The Financial Times is predicting that the announcement will take place on Monday, June 2, in San Francisco.

Earlier, I wrote that Samsung plans to develop a unified ecosystem of its consumer electronics and gadgets (in other words, a smart home) based on the Tizen platform (the idiot’s dream comes true - see the post “ Refrigerator on Android ” - well, what will it be on Tizen )

On the other hand, Google in January acquired Nest Labs for $ 3.2 billion, which manufactures thermostats and smoke detectors with Internet access.

The Financial Times suggests that this is due to the exhaustion of the growth opportunities of the smartphone market in developed countries.

They also write that Apple, entering the race with Google and Samsung, is included in the big game. I would say that the inclusion of Apple makes this game a big one - Samsung was never a trendsetter, and Google could not compete with itself. Now it really becomes interesting.

What exactly will be presented on Monday - we learn on Monday. Since Apple does not have the habit of demonstrating prototypes, perhaps it will be already working software with announced plans for terms and partnerships with manufacturers of household appliances. Since it is unlikely that Yabloko will begin to produce microwave ovens in the near future, integration with existing market players cannot be done.

PS A funny fact: there are several comments to the Financial Times article about how people are scared by the prospect that corporations will know what time they come home and all that.
