An example of saving on licenses when implementing an enterprise 1C server

  • Tutorial
Good afternoon, the article was written as a continuation of this opus. The 1C company is often criticized, often objective, but I will try to show by my example that 1C provides freedom of choice, which at present deserves respect at least. We also count a little money.

Prologue.

The main activity of our small company is IT outsourcing. Rather, for marketing and enthusiastic purposes, we create solution templates that allow us to standardize the IT infrastructure of the wards a little, and the client receives the most important thing to realize the savings (if you don’t praise yourself for the report, no one will notice). Clients are small companies from 20 to 200 people. One of such solutions is the implementation of 1C enterprise server on the free Linux + Postgres SQL platform. The article will not be the next technical realization, as all have been chewed and chewed . There will only be a comparison of the standard offer from 1C franchisee and our economical option for May 2014.

Task number 1.

Transition the database from file mode to SQL version with the possibility of using up to 20 clients.

Calculation of two options.

We do not support 1C, therefore all recommendations: about the need to switch from the file base to SQL, purchase licenses, and hardware, the client receives from the accompanying 1C franchisee. Next, we consult with us, we offer an alternative solution based on 1C + Linux + Postgres SQL, and we implement it ourselves.

Offer for 20 users.

Explanations and nuances:

  1. Implementers of 1C (in the universe, of course, there are others who are trying to save money on the client, but we haven’t come across these) by default they offer USB option keys, they are significantly more expensive than file licenses. Naturally, the choice of key type does not depend on the implementation platform. It turns out that the table is a trick in favor of the Linux platform. Still, let me remind you that this is not a scrupulous evaluation of proposals, but a fresh example from practice. For the sake of objectivity, I must clarify that, in my opinion, the implementers are leaning in favor of USB keys not in order to increase spending, but for the sake of reliability of use and ease of further maintenance, "all the more" when it comes to implementation on Linux + Postgres SQL.
  2. Often, we also purchase a 1C: Enterprise x86 key, not 64, for small companies. In this case, Postgres SQL uses the 64-bit version, and the 1C enterprise server is 32-bit. The use of organizations up to 60 people, we consider acceptable, the thesis is subjective.
  3. The cost of work is not taken into account. In our case, it is included in the service contract, therefore it is equal to zero for the client. We assume that the implementation and further support are approximately the same.

Problem number 2 + bonus from 1C
Transition the database from file mode to SQL version with the possibility of using up to 10 clients.

Addition to the nuances of example No. 1

  • Kind 1C allows you to use the 1C enterprise server on Linux for 12 clients without the enterprise server key, for Windows there isn’t. The bonus is dubious, because 10 users will be able to survive on the file, but still nice.

Total.

Often, saving within our country ruins any kind system undertakings. It seems to me that this case is still from a different category. Three years ago when we introduced the 1C enterprise server on Linux for the standard for our companies, we really without false concern listened to the 1C implementers that they would take responsibility for the functionality of the supported configuration on a similar non-“kosher” Linux + Postgres SQL connection, with this introducing the client into a state of panic.
It is possible that I can pull another dozen critical arrows into my calculations, it’s difficult to claim objectivity, but I wanted to convey a general idea of the financial component of the issue.

UPD. from Thug21
client software and hardware licenses are consumed differently in client-server mode.
-Software is spent on each connection
-Hardware on the computer.

UPD from sales@1c.ru the
technical ability to work without a key does not imply legal permission to do this. The law on the legal protection of computer information prohibits the use of any software products whose copyright holder does not declare their free (and we have never declared this server free).

PS:
Often, the employers of colleagues who implement similar solutions and are not aware of the savings. The following scheme works for us.
An offer from 1C franchisee for software, an offer from us to the server. “Our” budget for the server is cut, usually twice. We offer an alternative licensed solution, insisting that the money saved return to the hardware. It turns out that 1C is lobbying our desire to work with server hardware.
