Braille phone goes on sale
Hello, Habr!
Continuing the theme of empowerment, it is imperative to remember the use of communication with people with low vision and the blind. I am sure that they already use phones, but this is due to some inconvenience.
OwnFone, which has been manufacturing phones using 3D printing since 2012, decided to fix this problem. Simply put, the company offers a designer that allows you to make a simple phone with your own design for 50-60 pounds - for a child, for himself, for his grandmother. Or for a person who would be much more comfortable using a Braille phone.

The manufacturer offers not ready-made phones, but a designer. You can choose text buttons, buttons with a photo or an option with braille. After that, you will be offered the number of buttons, as well as the design - from the available ones, or you can upload your own. The most expensive phone will cost about 70 pounds.
For production, 3D printing technologies are used. This is what allows us to provide "flexibility" in the production of gadgets for everyone. Unfortunately, only for the British.

Thus, OwnFone, practically without changing anything in its work, is now able to provide convenient use of the phone by people with visual impairments.

Testing this version was conducted by a seven-year-old boy named Will.
There is nothing to say about technical specifications. The phone does not have a screen, all the buttons are initially made in the designer, their number is also selected there, then they are signed - in text, photo or in Braille. The design can be uploaded by you, or selected from existing ones. Everything is very simple.
