InterSystems Nomination Results at Golden Byte 2014

Golden byteOn April 26, the finals of the Golden Byte 2014 International Computer Talent Championship , hosted by the Step Computer Academy , were held at the Kiev City Teacher’s House . There were 9 nominations at the competition, and one of them - NoSQL Expert - was dedicated to the use of Intersystems products : Caché and GlobalsDB.

The theme of the competition this year was “Changing the world”, i.e. the works submitted to the jury should somehow improve, facilitate, secure, simplify interaction with the outside world. So, let's see how the winners suggested changing the world ...

At the final of the competition, 5 works were presented, 4 of which were completed by development teams and 1 was individual. All works were interesting, each of its kind. It was clear that the participants spent a lot of time preparing the presentation and tried to present their projects as best as possible, more interesting, and brighter.

The third place was taken by the project of Nikita Savchenko from Kiev, KPI "GlobalsDB admin"- The interface for the GlobalsDB database administrator. A pleasant variety after working with the tabular representation of globals was the graphical representation of trees, which allows you to "travel" from one node to another and at the same time displays the whole set of indices, starting from the root. The application allows, without departing from the cash register, to quickly view, edit, add and delete nodes. And all this is implemented in an intuitive interface that can be controlled using gestures or a keyboard. In addition to the desktop version of the admin panel, an application for Android mobile devices is also available. Presentation of the project. The second place was taken by the project.ITHead teams (Chernyshov Stanislav, Slobodenyuk Zoya, Vadim Uchuvatov) from the branch of the Step Academy in Odessa, “uControl” is a mobile application for identifying the location of a mobile phone. It allows the user to add the user of another phone to the list to track his movements, mark control points for passing the route (for example, from school home), danger zones (for example, construction sites or game clubs) and the time for passing the route. Thus, it is possible to always know where the owner of a particular phone is and control its movement along a predetermined route. Of course, adding a new tracking phone is done only with the consent of its owner. Video clip .
