Marshall Major Headphone Review

    Hello, Habr!

The other day I became the owner of the headphones Marshall Major. I looked at Habré - it turned out that since 2012 no one has reviewed this type of device. But Major is also a headset for your smartphone. It just has high-quality sound and excellent design.

    Background

Everyone knows Marshall Amplification. It was founded back in 1962, and its musical equipment can be seen on many concert recordings since that year. For many people, this brand is associated with hard rock. For example, Iron Maiden has been using Marshall since the band was founded, and they have played over 2,000 concerts and sold over 80 million copies of their albums.

But the Swedish company Zound Industries, known specifically as a manufacturer of headphones, had a hand in the design of the headphones. Among their works are Urbanears, Molami and Coloud. Zound Industries also designed the Marshall Minor.

    Packaging

Headphones come in an almost gift cardboard box that prints specifications and a color picture at the bottom.

Inside, headphones and an adapter from 3.5 to 6.3 are picture-mounted on a black cardboard pedestal. I don’t even want to pull them out. They are firmly fixed with flagella.

The kit, in addition to the actual headphones, includes an adapter from 3.5 to 6.3 mm.

    Design

The Marshall Major Headphones brings us back to the heyday of rock and roll and the New Wave of British heavy metal. You look at them - and in your head starts to play something like Run To the Hills or Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. But this is optional and depends on your particular musical preferences.

The outer walls of the ear pads are made of vinyl and decorated with the signature white Marshall logo, which is recognizable from afar.

It is convenient that the headphones can be folded. So they save space in the bag.

    image

Part of the wire is twisted by a spring, which prevents the ability to spin anywhere else. If necessary, you can pull the wire up to two meters, in a calm state it conveniently reaches the jacket pocket where the mobile phone is.

Jamming of the wire at the jack is prevented by a steel spring.

The primary colors of Marshall are black and gold, as well as a white logo. This is reflected in the design of the headphones.

Inside, the mounts are decorated with embossed Marshall logos on a gold background, the jack and spring are also gold.

On the inside of the rim is a print of Jim Marshall, the company's founder.

The remote with a microphone is equipped with one button. On Android, one click starts or stops the music, double click - and you call the last number you dialed.

    Materials

The first thing you notice when you hold the headphones in your hands is high-quality materials and perfect assembly.

    image

The main materials of the headphones are soft-touch plastic, vinyl, leather, eco-leather and steel. The arch is upholstered in genuine leather, while the ear pads are made of soft eco-leather, which is difficult to distinguish from real one. Even by smell. There is a minus in this - it can be hot in the summer. The outer walls of the ear pads are made of vinyl. The ear pads are attached to the arc with steel wire. The headphone bowls are made of vinyl, the same material used in Marshall amplifiers. It is pleasant to realize that I pulled the speakers of such a manufacturer on my ears. The wire is thick rubber.

    Sound

Attention! Subjective opinion! I listened to Mac and HTC One X.

    remind basic characteristics:
    resistance: 32 ohm
    Loudspeaker diameter: 40 mm
    Frequency range: 20 - 20000 Hz
    Sensitivity: 121 dB

Marshall Major very loud. Be sure to keep this in mind so as not to accidentally turn on the music at full volume. Just brains will flow out. At the average power of my HTC One X, they sound great. It was like re-listening to music after the SONY MDR-ZX300 / W, which, however, I am very pleased. And this despite the fact that this Sony model has a wider range - 10-24000 Hz. The point is the difference in price and materials.

Soundproofing is far from ideal. Of course, in the office or at home, using them is a pleasure, and in the subway you will even hear the announcement of the next stop. This does not affect the sound quality, as if you were sitting between two powerful speakers and listening to music in a car. Turn it on louder - and others will drag along with you.

    Verdict

First about the flaws: in the summer at Marshall Major it will most likely be hot.

And the advantages of these headphones include quality materials, excellent assembly and high-quality sound. The headphones are comfortable, fit snugly to the head, the wire does not get confused. I would call the design outstanding, since you rarely see headphones that are nice to stop looking at. I am pleased with them.
