bb-mobile VOIIS GPS: phone with large buttons, health control and remote control

Personally, I never really liked the classic concept of a “grandmother”, which has gained some distribution on the Russian market. Yes, such devices have large buttons and large fonts, which is good. But all the other functions in them seem to be implemented for show. Radio without a headset? Yes, it works. But the antenna built into the case is so weak that it can’t really receive an FM signal, and therefore instead of music from the speaker, mainly rustling is heard.

SOS functionality? Yes, the phone can ring and send SMS to the specified alarm numbers by clicking on the corresponding button (usually it is located at the back). But then what? A man learns that something happened to his elderly relative. But only: where is he, that he is far from the fact that all this important information will reach the recipient. Because this same elderly relative must transmit it to the “addressee” by voice, and if, for example, he had a stroke, then he probably will not be able to do this. All this reminds me of my school, where by the beginning of one school year, cranes were installed in the physics office on each desk. Type for experiments. But they “forgot” to bring the pipes to them, and over the next three years of study we never used these cranes. The same thing happens with the "grandmothers": the initiative is sound and correct,

Below I will talk about the phone bb-mobile VOIIS GPS, in which everything is just done right. And I would not call him “grandmother” in the usual sense - the definition of “medfon” is better for him, since among other things it allows you to remotely control the user's health status. This can be useful not only for an elderly person, but also, for example, for a child. I remember, at the age of 12 I went to the children's “recreation” camp. I deliberately put the word “wellness” in quotation marks, because due to wild unsanitary conditions and poor nutrition, I “caught” some interesting virus there that led to high fever and stomach problems. The thermometer was given to me by caring parents with me, and I even used it a couple of times for its intended purpose. But at the age of 12, you don’t think about the fact that 38 degrees is somehow too much. The main thing is the sun, the sea, sand ... So I fell ill then well. And if I had a bb-mobile VOIIS GPS in my pocket, and in my head - the right instruction from my parents, then they would, having learned about problems with the temperature, take me from this institution within a matter of hours.

But - closer to the point. What is bb-mobile VOIIS GPS? It looks like a regular phone that looks like “grandmothers”. In fact, this is an integrated system such as “client - server”, which allows you to remotely control health settings and configure the phone “from and to”. What is more important - monitoring the state of the body or tuning - I can not judge: in my opinion, both of these options are key in this case, and you should not consider any of them additional and secondary.

I won’t talk about the phone for a long time. It has large and comfortable buttons, a rather fine case made of plastic (there are silver elements, there are black with a spark), a small but rather high-quality color screen, FM radio ... For the latter, a telescopic antenna is provided, so that the reception quality no complaints - all honor.

There is an item in the menu where you can find out the weather for your current location.

In the upper part of the case there is a loop for attaching a lace (included) and an LED flashlight. It is activated by a slider located on the right side of the device.

The SOS button is located on the rear panel (I’ll immediately emphasize that its capabilities are much wider than that of “grandma phones”), as well as a really loud speaker. I would even say "deafeningly loud."

Under the battery, there was a SIM card slot (miniSIM standard, although microSIM can be inserted into it without any problems) and a microSD flash drive. To be honest, I don’t really understand why the latter is needed, since there is no music player and camera in bb-mobile VOIIS GPS.

Perhaps, I’ll immediately tell you about the SOS key and related features. Yes, after pressing this button, the bb-mobile VOIIS GPS can turn on the “siren” (and you can really hear it - see the speaker impressions above), call the given numbers (up to 5) and send SMS to them.

And here it is worth paying attention to the abbreviation GPS, which is present in the name of the phone and is given on its case. The fact is that a link to a map where the user's location will be indicated can be included in the message text. Moreover, such a message can be sent not only after pressing the SOS key, but also requested by the “remote controller”, that is, for example, relatives of the owner of bb-mobile VOIIS GPS. Send the word FIND to his number, and in response to a couple of minutes, two messages come. The first is with coordinates calculated from the base stations of the operator. The second will contain GPS coordinates and a link to Google Maps.

Convenient implementation? In my opinion, very comfortable and correct.

Regarding health monitoring and remote settings. For these purposes, the service is located at www.bb-mobile.ru/voois . The password is indicated on the phone itself, and as the login, you must enter the IMEI number. After this, this menu opens:

You can configure literally EVERYTHING. That is, almost any parameter of the phone. Want to change the wallpaper? You are welcome. Change pictures to photo contacts (there can be 8 pieces + 300 ordinary ones, without a picture), and also set ringtones for them? No problem. Time, date, keypad lock, flashlight on, sound volume - all this can be adjusted and configured. What is it for? I think many have come across a situation when your mother or grandmother calls you and says something like “oh, I’ve put something up here, and now the phone doesn’t peep when making calls.” Using a browser on a computer or smartphone can solve this problem instantly. Or, for example, enter the doctor’s number in the device’s memory. It’s more convenient to dictate it to the user, so that he himself “hammer” it into the phone.

That's how I, say, entered my number into the bb-mobile VOIIS GPS memory, accompanying it with a picture:

For the order of a couple more screenshots showing the breadth of the remote configuration options:

There are two options for synchronizing the phone with the bb-mobile server - both of them are described as in instructions and website.

The first is completely “manual”: the user must click on the “Synchronize” item in the phone’s interface. This is convenient if you need to load the body state data entered into bb-mobile VOIIS GPS onto the server (I will discuss this option below). However, you can synchronize both manually and on a schedule - once a day or once a week.

The second option, again, is remote: relatives can send a message with the word SYNC to bb-mobile VOIIS GPS, and all changes in the settings will be downloaded from the server to the phone without user intervention. Although, of course, this option can also be used if the user regularly enters data on the state of the body into the phone, but forgets to regularly synchronize them with the server.

Actually, about the control of health. You can make the following settings from your phone.

That is, the user enters them into bb-mobile VOIIS GPS with any frequency (at least once a minute, at least once a day, at least once a week), they are transmitted to the server, where such a schedule is built. I experimented with Temperature. At first he indicated that it was 36.6 degrees for me, and then 36.8 degrees. (You can view charts / health data for a day, a week, a month, or even for a year.) Relatives can follow the changes on the site and, in which case, take measures. The main thing is to train the user to enter data regularly and not to forget about synchronization.

However, if the user is oblivious, then you can remotely activate up to 13 alarms at different times. One of them is an ordinary alarm clock, and 12 are reminders. With their help, you can remind you of the need to drink medicine, as well as the need to enter health parameters on the phone - blood pressure, pulse, blood sugar, oxygen in the blood, weight, temperature, number of steps. For each of them, you can set a threshold value; for example, for temperature we enter 36.6 degrees, and if the user enters 37 after the “reminder” is triggered, then bb-mobile VOIIS GPS will immediately inform the relatives via SMS. Again, I note that the idea, in my opinion, is great.

You can also specify medications for which a person is allergic, ask some general information and write an extract from the medical record (800 characters for each item). All this is done to demonstrate to doctors and nurses in the event of admission to the hospital.

An unusual (and useful) option was also found on the phone: bb-mobile VOIIS GPS can receive calls from 5 emergency numbers even when the phone is turned off. Thus, a person can be reached if he accidentally / unknowingly turned off the device. By the way, you can turn it off according to the schedule - for example, during the daily rest.

The device works, of course, slightly less than the usual "grandmothers" - due to Internet connections and the periodic operation of GPS. Nevertheless, the 900 mAh battery guarantees up to 5-7 days of "autonomy". And so that the user does not forget about the trickle, you can set a reminder (including remotely). The phone is charged via the microUSB port, however, a desktop cradle is also included in its package. A handy thing, you don’t need to “look for” a socket for a plug on the device’s body.

What can I say in the end? An excellent “complex” turned out, in my opinion. He has two drawbacks. The first is a certain difficulty in mastering and setting up. This product is for users who are aware of why they and their loved ones need such a device and who will spend several hours / days setting up. Perhaps, for this, it will be necessary to involve representatives of the young generation - those who are able to deal with a modern smartphone. The second drawback or, if you want, a nuance is the need to teach the user how to enter the parameters of the body according to a schedule. Not the fact that a person who is far from gadgets will cope with this instantly and on the first try.

It costs bb-mobile VOIIS GPS 3 490 rubles. That is quite acceptable. Also on sale is a bb-mobile VOIIS Comfort phone - the essence is the same, but in a folding form factor, with a larger screen and without GPS (location is determined by base stations). Its price is 3,790 rubles.
