Phonebloks - a modular smartphone

The guys from Phonebloks see several problems in modern smartphones. The main thing is that they break down or become obsolete and have to be thrown out, as a result of which they pollute the environment. Two other problems are directly related to this - in the event of a breakdown, they are difficult to repair, and it is almost impossible to upgrade. Of course, the authors of Phonebloks came up with an effective solution to these difficulties.

The idea is to develop a fully modular smartphone, so that every component - screen, processor, battery, memory, camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth - is a separate unit that can be inserted into the motherboard. This design will allow you to quickly repair the device, since a broken component can be easily pulled out and simply replaced, rather than throwing the entire device. In addition, such a scheme involves hundreds of opportunities for customization or improvement, allowing, in fact, just to create for everyone the smartphone he needs.

The idea is good, but requires a lot of support. First of all, from manufacturers who need to switch to the release of such individual blocks, and not entire smartphones. It is clear that they are unlikely to abandon their existing business model, and therefore the Phonebloks team asks everyone who liked the idea of social support.

A page is opened on the Thunderclap website on which you can approve of such a smartphone (no, this is not crowdfunding, the authors do not ask for money yet - they just offer an idea). Already, with the requested 10,000 people, about 25,000 participants have "subscribed" to the project. More than a month is left before the end of the campaign, so it can be assumed that he will gain several million support votes.
