Overview of the network platform Lanner FW-7581

Today we bring to your attention a review of cost-effective 1U network platform FW-7581 manufactured by Lanner Inc.

This is the first and most unpretentious 19-inch rack-mount platform with x86 architecture in our line of product reviews of the manufacturer Lanner, so the story about it will be short, but interesting. Let's get right to the point.

As CPUs, you can use Intel processors of the Core2 Duo, Core2 Quad, Pentium D, Celeron families on the LGA775 socket with support for up to 4GB DDR3 1066 / 1333Mhz. You can use any x86-compatible operating system to control the device. The platform has one management interface on board six copper GbE interfaces, under the control of Intel 82574L controllers.


For storage, the board has two Serial-ATA ports and a compartment for attaching a 2.5-inch hard drive, as well as a slot for Compact Flash-cards. The radiator on the CPU is cooled by two coolers through a fan duct + additional cooler for cooling the internal space.


The platform has a full-fledged PCIe x8 expansion slot, on which not only additional Ethernet and SFP modules can be installed, but crypto modules for accelerating VPN connections and Tilera processor cards can be installed via riser-card to increase packet throughput per second (kpps )
