Dial-up service still brings AOL $ 500 million a year

The current head of the company, Tim Armstrong, is
often talked about dial-up more historically in Habré, if I may say so. Someone recalls with warmth the sound made by the modem during the connection, someone recalls with horror the constant disconnections and blockers on the phones. Most dial-up subscribers happily switched to broadband access as soon as the corresponding service appeared in cities, towns and urban-type settlements. But it turns out that dial-up is still alive than all living things. At least in the USA.
Here, the dial-up market is mostly owned by AOL (which has recently ceased to beunprofitable), and brings about 500 million US dollars per year. It is clear that this market is constantly decreasing, but AOL is trying to provide additional services to subscribers so that they do not refuse dial-up and continue to use the service.
It is worth noting that this service brings the company more money than all the other services combined. In the 1990s, AOL became a wealthy corporation thanks to the rapidly organized dial-up service, which millions of Americans began to use. And, as we see, this is still a fairly reliable business, although many do not remember what dial-up is and how to work with it.
