Notes after meeting with Sergey Belousov
On Friday, the final of the next Web Ready contest was held, one of the winners was Qbaka Respect (I would be a programmer, I would probably admire even more). I won’t comment on the winners in the mobile nomination, but I’ll share it with pleasure in a short summary after a joint press conference and presentation by Sergey Belousov.
By the way, this is the opinion of not only an entrepreneur, but also an engineer and a representative of a venture fund.
I absolutely agree with Sergey about the importance of trend tracking. He compares them to the wind that blows into the sails of a startup. I would add a pulse analogy.
“If your startup is developing without taking into account trends, then most likely you are doing something wrong.”
So, I remember the following:
Google does not help with complex queries, more and more information is more correct and easier to find on highly specialized sites, it is still unclear what to do with social search
Despite record unsuccessful IPO, we are waiting for new products from Mark
Previously, almost any apple decision became prophetic: for example, the lack of a CD-ROM; mobile devices without flash support - this is normal, etc. Now the new iPhone is scratching, and the iPad mini is a strange product, in fact, it has legitimized the market for mini-tablets on Android.
There was a trend that everything would turn into HTML 5, and in the past year, some experts have claimed that most of the web will go into applications.
Both points of view have the right to exist, but so far none of them have won.
Mobile phones are used even where there is no cellular connection. For example, in several countries of Africa there is no connection, but everyone has mobile phones (games, books, etc.).
High-quality and fast communication will appear everywhere in the next 2 years. LTE speed will be achieved!
The performance of smartphones is high and constantly growing.
More and more tasks that only a computer could do are performed by our mobile device.
Especially in the B2C sector, where their customers are users of the Internet and social networks. They no longer understand the conservative approach, which means that banks must be mobile and user-friendly, and this should be reflected in their web interface.
In all areas there are a lot of bad and out-of-date decisions, these are opportunities.
Internet life and feelings of being online occupies a huge part of a person’s life, and it’s not clear what place this reality, auxiliary or dominant, will take in our life ...
Cloud is already a common word in almost any business. Apparently Big Data is now in line.
Any Russian start-up party should call teams from Europe, Asia, America and do more sections in English. We do not live in Russia, but in the world.
PS This note is not a verbatim compendium, but rather personal impressions.

“If your startup is developing without taking into account trends, then most likely you are doing something wrong.”
So, I remember the following:
1. No Google search.
Google does not help with complex queries, more and more information is more correct and easier to find on highly specialized sites, it is still unclear what to do with social search
2. Facebook growth.
Despite record unsuccessful IPO, we are waiting for new products from Mark
3. Apple is already imperfect and no one knows where this will lead.
Previously, almost any apple decision became prophetic: for example, the lack of a CD-ROM; mobile devices without flash support - this is normal, etc. Now the new iPhone is scratching, and the iPad mini is a strange product, in fact, it has legitimized the market for mini-tablets on Android.
4. HTML5 or apps store?
There was a trend that everything would turn into HTML 5, and in the past year, some experts have claimed that most of the web will go into applications.
Both points of view have the right to exist, but so far none of them have won.
5. Cell phones everywhere!
Mobile phones are used even where there is no cellular connection. For example, in several countries of Africa there is no connection, but everyone has mobile phones (games, books, etc.).
High-quality and fast communication will appear everywhere in the next 2 years. LTE speed will be achieved!
6. Powerful mobile computer.
The performance of smartphones is high and constantly growing.
More and more tasks that only a computer could do are performed by our mobile device.
7. Banks! Previously, they could afford to be conservative, now not.
Especially in the B2C sector, where their customers are users of the Internet and social networks. They no longer understand the conservative approach, which means that banks must be mobile and user-friendly, and this should be reflected in their web interface.
8. Education, medicine, state. services.
In all areas there are a lot of bad and out-of-date decisions, these are opportunities.
9. The new reality.
Internet life and feelings of being online occupies a huge part of a person’s life, and it’s not clear what place this reality, auxiliary or dominant, will take in our life ...
10. Cloud computing.
Cloud is already a common word in almost any business. Apparently Big Data is now in line.
11. Startup contests should be international.
Any Russian start-up party should call teams from Europe, Asia, America and do more sections in English. We do not live in Russia, but in the world.
