Officially introduced by SailFish OS

Representatives of the Finnish startup Jolla , which is developing the SailFish mobile operating system, which is based on MeeGo, today in Helsinki made an official presentation of their product and SDK preview for developers. The presentation was personally led by the new Jolla CEO Mark Dillon (the previous one was Jussi Hurmola - he suddenly left the company a month ago)

As far as you can understand, while there is no living device with the system running yet, as well as slides with UI examples, the press release contains a link to the advertising video, which can be seen below and which clearly shows that swype gestures are used to control screens (and with some attention, a small green android is clearly visible). There are already features comparing the SailFish interface with a combination of Windows Phone and Android.

You can also see how someone shows that SailFish already works on his Nokia N950.

    UPD: SailFish OS Video Demo:

At the heart of the Sailfish OS SDK is the core of Mer, Qt Creator, the original Jolla UI and other frameworks.
