Asus insists on a unique form factor and launches PadFone2

About a month and a half ago, the unique Asus PadFone transformer officially went on sale. This is such a smartphone that inserts into a tablet, which, in turn, fastens the keyboard. Moreover, the processor, flash and RAM are only in the smartphone. That is, the smartphone is like the heart of this combine, the tablet carries only a larger display and an additional battery, and the keyboard, in turn, also has an additional battery and the keyboard itself. All the nuances of using such a unit, I still hopefully have to experience in the testing process of Asus PadFone, which I will report on. In the meantime, I offer a quick look at the Asus PadFone2.

The main thing is that the difference between PadFone2 and simple PadFone is that the device has lost its hard keyboard. The smartphone itself received a larger diagonal display: 4.7 instead of 4.3. Display resolution also increased and amounted to 720p. The display is manufactured by Sharp using Super-IPS + technology and covered with Corning Fit protective glass - the same as that used on the Google Nexus 7 tablet . The heart of the smartphone is the 4-core Qualcomm APQ8064 SoC processor. RAM was already 2 GB. As for flash memory, there will be three standard options: 16, 32 and 64 GB. But each PadFone 2 customer will receive 50 GB of free storage space for ASUS WebStorage for two years. The device will work out of the box on Android ICS, although an update to Jelly Bean is promised in the near future.

An interesting new device and built-in camera using a 13-megapixel sensor BSI f / 2.4 from Sony. The camera can shoot Full HD video at a speed of 30 frames per second, and when shooting regular HD, shooting at a speed of 60 fps is possible. In addition, shooting of 100 continuous photos is available. In a word, the camera, at least by the description, looks very attractive.

The smartphone received a battery capacity of 2140 mAh, but the battery capacity in the tablet decreased from 6600 mAh to 5000 mAh. The smartphone weighs 135 grams, and the tablet 514 grams., Total: 649 grams. instead of the current 854 grams (130 + 724).

The exact date of receipt of the device on sale is not yet known. Will this form factor, which offers a unique experience in the interaction of a smartphone and a tablet, survive on the second attempt?
