At Finam FM studio - Roman Tyszkowski partner and head of media practice at Odgers Berndtson; Evgeny Kurt, Managing Partner of uCoz. Together with the host, Maxim Spiridonov, they talk about a resignation in the Mail.Ru Group corporation, about the launch of the Yandex navigation service, about the reaction of the network public to the NTV ambiguous film, about the results of a study of the Russian coupon services market, and about the new Google’s cartographic web service.

    1. Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mail.Ru Group, Yuri Milner, resigned ahead of schedule. This was stated in a press release published on the website of the corporation. As follows from the text of the message, Dmitry Grishin, the general director of Mail.Ru Group, took his place.

    - What does the departure of Yuri Milner mean for Mail.Ru Group?
    - Where will Yuri Milner invest?
    - Roman Tyshkovsky: “Yuri has long said that he wants to finish his projects in Russia and focus on his activities abroad. Therefore, there is nothing unexpected. It was obvious that at some point he would cease to be, even formally, the chairman of the board of directors, which happened. ”
    - Eugene Kurt: “Probably, maybe Mail.Ru Group will start investing at some stage. Yandex has started investing in startups. ”
    - Comment of Ksenia Chabanenko, PR-Director of Mail.Ru Group: “The company's strategy is being developed and proposed by a team of Mail.ru Group top managers, headed by CEO Dmitry Grishin, so no changes will happen here.”

    2. The company “Yandex” introduced the service “Yandex. Navigator". The application can plot routes, taking into account the traffic situation, warn about the situation on the roads, calculate the distance and travel time. At the moment, the service works only on mobile devices based on iOS and Android operating systems.

    - First impressions of the product.
    - Roman Tyshkovsky: “From the point of view of the application, it’s quite a convenient thing, although, of course, with a huge amount of flaws. But it normal. This is the first version. "I treat <this service> as a product that is free, so it’s weird to demand some kind of enhanced quality from the very beginning."
    - Eugene Kurt: “It seems to me that this is an extended version of Yandex.Maps. She’s a little bit better at <routes>, she says something. He speaks not very morally, doesn’t know the roads everywhere, but at the same time Yandex has all the resources to develop this <application>. "
    - Commentary by the head of the Yandex.Navigator service Sergey Maximov: “This is not an altruistic project, there <in Yandex.Navigator> it’s quite realistic to advertise and make this service cost-effective”.

    3. The scandal turned around the screening of the film “Anatomy of Protest” on the NTV channel. The film claimed that opposition forces were paying participants in their rallies and intentionally provoking police into brutal acts against ordinary protesters. Viewers who disagree with the channel’s point of view left dozens of angry and obscene comments on NTV groups on the social networks Vkontakte and Facebook. On the night of March 15-16, users of the microblogging service Twitter wrote several hundred messages with the hashtag “NTVzhet”, which brought the word “NTV” to the ten most mentioned service tags. In the following days, several DDoS attacks were carried out on the website of the television company, which made the resource unavailable for some time.

    - How to evaluate the reaction of the network public to this film?
    - What forms can the indignation against odious television content take?
    - Will there be a boycott of NTV or major advertisers of this channel?
    - Eugene Kurt: “I haven’t been happy with television content <...> for a long time. I made my choice, but so far most of it is in favor of television. ”
    - Roman Tyshkovsky: “In a general format, advertisers are guided by what TNS provides, <...> and a boycott of goods will not affect, even in the medium term, an understanding of the effectiveness of <advertising on this channel>”.

    4. J'son & Partners Consulting presented the results of a study of the Russian coupon services market. Mass discount sites were evaluated in terms of marketing effectiveness and geographical reach. The leader in both indicators was the Biglion service, which was ahead of such large players in the coupon market,

    - Why are clones of Western projects in RuNet often stronger than the originals?
    - On what scale to evaluate coupon services?
    - The future of the coupon market.
    - Roman Tyshkovsky: “It’s just that the Biglion team turned out to be stronger and more professional than the Groupon team, it responded faster to incoming requests.”
    - Eugene Kurt: “I don’t see any strong research in our market, unfortunately. I did not see <in this study> any methodology. "

    5. Google Corporation, together with the Auto.ru portal, launched the cartographic web service Roads of Russia. The project collects information about the quality of the country's roads based on data received from users' mobile devices. To participate in the project, you must install an application on your smartphone that analyzes the degree of vibration of the vehicle’s suspension on a particular section of the track and transfers this information to the rusdorogi.ru website, where it is processed. The application is available only for devices based on the Android operating system.

    - Why are Yandex and Google engaged in navigation applications?
    - Prospects for the web service "Roads of Russia".
    - Eugene Kurt: “The main problem is with the government. Ok, well, we know that the road is bad there. What are we not going to go there? Do we have a paid bypass? They are not there. ”
    - Roman Tyshkovsky: “I do not understand when this service can be useful to me. It’s pointless to build a route to bypass the pit, no one will ever do this. ”
    - Commentary by the head of the project “Roads of Russia” Arkady Khachkovanyan: “First of all, our site is informational in nature, and we would like users to find something useful for themselves in this site. If the structures responsible for the quality of the road surface also find something useful, we will be very happy and, in principle, we are working for this. ”
