DIY remote control search function

A few years ago, the thought stuck in my head why TV manufacturers would not make a button on the TV case for searching for a remote control via a radio channel? After all, this function is very much in demand, I think everyone faced a situation where it was necessary to perform a simple operation (adjust the volume or switch the channel), and go to the TV too lazy, or more complicated, for example, turn off the sound, but the console disappeared, it’s not known where, and here the quest begins . Look nearby on the sofa on the left, on the right, underneath, raise the pillows. If there is no remote control at arm's length, walking around the room and scanning the room with a look at the presence of a piece of plastic with buttons. Then begins the inversion of everything under which the remote control may appear, and so on, everyone can write a continuation for himself. But it would seem the simplest thing, put the receiver + squeaker into the remote control, add 1 button on the case. But it is evident to manufacturers that this idea has not occurred to us for years. And as a student at a pedagogical university, I did not bother with the implementation of the idea and persistently continued to look for a remote control under my pillows.

Last year, I was convinced that the thought is material, or that the planet has an information field - the manufacturer Supra launches the STV-LC3225AWL model with the remote control search function: the

TV turned out to be rather mediocre in terms of characteristics. Of course, I have no doubt that the manufacturer will continue to produce televisions with such a function, but my beloved Philips and Samsung have not yet been pleased with their decisions. Maybe Supra has patented this feature, I don’t know. In general, I decided to make myself a thing for the remote control, and since I don’t have a technical background and can hardly distinguish a transistor from a resistor, I decided to use Chinese stores with ready-made solutions such as “Pressed a button - squeaked”.

The first idea was cheap - a keychain that responds to a whistle for $ 1.20 :

As it turned out, he also joyfully responds to clapping, screaming and other loud sounds. The idea is cheap, but this is a bit not what I wanted to implement: firstly, the keychain squeaked when it was not required, secondly, searching for the remote control at night was impossible, you won’t scream in the middle of the night.

The second idea came after I saw on the site of one of the Chinese stores another device for finding keys worth about $ 10 . It was plastic, about the size of a bank card, about two millimeters thick:

Two CR2016 3V tablet batteries are inserted on one side, and a search button is located on the other. The squeaker keychain is a pear-shaped piece of plastic with a metal ring, there is a recessed ON / OFF switch on the side (I can’t accidentally switch it):

Having disassembled the keychain, I found a rather small piece of PCB, on one side a CR2032 3V battery was attached to it, on the other tweeter:

Then there were two options:

1) Simple: to push this design into the remote control and for a certain time enjoy searching for the remote control from a card that can be put on, or better glued to the TV (preferably on the back panel). When the battery runs out and the keychain - disassemble the remote control and change the battery.
2) Complex: since the remote control is powered by 3V and the remote control uses two AA or AAA batteries, then connect to the remote control batteries. They are easier to change, no need to disassemble the remote.

The photo shows that if you remove the CR2032 compartment, then this microcircuit can be pushed into almost any remote control, it is very thin, and the squeaker hangs on the wires and it is possible to place it elsewhere on the remote control:

I think the Khabrovsk residents do not need instructions for removing the compartment for CR2032 and connecting power from the remote control. Also, I will not now implant this design into the remote, because the remote control that I have not mine, like the TV (we rent an apartment), but I sincerely hope that this topic will be useful to people who are tired of the quest to find the remote control, and which option to use, simple or complex, everyone will decide for themselves myself.
