Samsung and Apple control over 90% of the mobile phone market

Who would have thought that in just a few years, only two companies will become not just leaders in their field, but giants that control almost 100% of the smartphone and phone market. The other day, the publication of one of the analysts appeared, with data on the financial dominance of Apple and Samsung in this area. At the same time, the Yabloko owners own a share of 80%, and samsung, respectively - 15%, which, you see, is also very good.

According to the analytical agency Canaccord Genuity, in the third quarter of last year, Apple owned about 56% of the smartphone market. In the fourth quarter, the share increased to 80%. This growth is largely due to the emergence and popularization of the iPhone 4S, and the old versions of smartphones from the Cupertino company are also popular.

As for Samsung, the market share of this company fell from 26% to 15%. It is worth noting that Apple sold 37 million iPhones for the quarter, which helped the company get $ 13 billion. Samsung, according to analysts, has sold approximately 35 million of its phones, which is only 2 million less than its rival. In general, Apple’s struggle with Samsung makes it now almost impossible for a third rival to emerge from among well-known or not-so-well-known companies.

HTC also controls just 3% of the mobile device market, releasing new flagships and regular smartphones ( dual-core smartphones have become a tradition ). As for Nokia and Rim, these companies own about 2% of the pie. Well, all other companies have a very small percentage in this area. So far, there is no threat to the two leaders in the mobile phone market mentioned above. However, in the event of a global crisis, there will be problems, not only for Apple and Samsung, but for all participants in this market.
