Free click-2-call widget for your website

The possibility of feedback for the site is now a thing in great demand. Only in RuNet there are about a dozen services that provide such an opportunity. Most of them do this in the form of text chat: it’s easy to implement, and chat is a familiar form of communication for the Internet. And although the channel width of most users allows voice communication directly from the site, there are very few sane services that provide voice feedback.

As a demonstration of our platform, we decided to provide the opportunity for free and without registration to install a voice feedback widget on your site with your city number. There are, of course, some restrictions about this below.

    Why are we doing this

First, a little about us. We are the developers of the RTCKit cloud telephony platform . The platform allows you to do a lot, about this we wrote in detail here and here . Usually we do not do services for users, but instead focus on technology. The Click-2-call widget is more a demonstration of our capabilities than a real product.

It is known that the "grounding" of voice traffic to city phones costs money, and it turns out that if we provide this opportunity for free, then we "get" money? Not really. As I mentioned, this is an advertisement. We made a few calculations, and it turns out that instead of transferring money to Yandex.Direct / Adwords or SEO, it’s much cheaper to just make free widgets. Users get some functionality for free, and we get the inscription “powered by RTCKit” at the bottom of the widget. Win-win.

    How to start using it

We decided to make everything extremely simple. You just need to visit us in a special section of the site , enter your phone number and domain, and post the received code on your site. It's all. True. We are not interested in your name, your e-mail, your height, weight, etc. As a result, a button appears at the left or right edge of your site, when you click on it, a window appears and a call is made to your number.

Now a little about the limitations. Our widget can call for free on city phones in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Chelyabinsk in the amount of not more than 150 minutes per month. Time is considered per second, we do not have any rounding to the nearest minute. There are no restrictions on the number of simultaneous calls. It may seem that 150 minutes is not enough, but believe our experience: people (so far) are not so used to calling from a browser that you are unlikely to spend even so much.

From customization you can choose only which side the button will be displayed on. There are no other settings. Color / font / label cannot be changed. There is no possibility to receive call statistics.

    How does it work

About the technology of calls from the browser, I wrote in detail in one of the previous articles . In short: this is Flash now, there will be WebRTC in the browsers supporting it soon . Since everything works in SaaS mode, we can implement WebRTC support transparently for widget users.

For security reasons, the user is required to allow the use of his microphone before making a call. This is a reasonable requirement, otherwise the web pages could eavesdrop on your conversations without your knowledge. The only sad thing is that in Flash Player, the access request dialog looks a little wretched, and getting to the "allow" button is a little difficult. Therefore, we made the call only start after the user has allowed everything so that you are not disturbed by calls where the other side is not heard.

All questions and comments can be written here or at [email protected] . It is also worth noting that if you do not like our click-2-call widget, then you can always make your own using our API .
