DIY do-it-yourself poker poker

When a year ago, we started to implement SCRUM, the boss brought several planning poker decks. These were dull pieces of laminated paper, printed and cut in the nearest copy center. It is clear that there was no need to experience any pleasure from their use, and simply from holding in hands.

Over time, the team grew and as a result there was a need to replenish the supply of cards, and since I was actively outraged by the quality of the previous series, I had to deal with this issue. What came out of it, see under the cut.

Old cards had a number of disadvantages:

  • unevenly carved;
  • thin paper;
  • glossy lamination;
  • missing shirt;
  • translucent front side;
  • proportions taken from the ceiling;
  • and the complete absence of any personality.

Based on this hack and armed with a vector editor, coupled with google-search for images, I began to draw. Initially, I wanted to make a standard deck design for everyone and separate for myself, in order to show off, but fate in the form of a curious Japanese-office neighbor in the office made some adjustments. As a result, in addition to the standard theme, two more custom themes were released.

Standard deck:

Japanese-style deck : A

deck for your beloved:

A little bit about the process

Color double-sided printing on the thickest paper that was available - more than 300 g / sq.m .; lamination with a matte film; cutting on a plotter according to a pre-prepared layout. There was an annoying nuisance with the print - an incomprehensible hardware shift when printing on the side of the shirts (this can easily be seen in the photographs). The rest of the cards turned out to be beautiful, pleasant and without the above-mentioned disadvantages of the first batch.

What is the result?

Improving the aesthetic component of the workflow in the office and I hope the quality of work in general. The pleasure of the work done, the respect from the colleagues, the increase in the NEL - these are all personal profits.

For those who want themselves are the same, spread a reference to download - enjoy! A better DIY!

PS

Now I looked - on the Internet they offer decks of 700 rubles. In my case, the cost of each is less than 100 rubles - it definitely turned out to be more profitable.
