The Ufa group of users of Google technologies, Ufa GTUG is 1 year old!

Exactly a year ago, on August 21, 2010 the Ufa Google Technology User Group , Ufa Google Technology User Group (GTUG or Jitag for short) was officially registered with a rather ambitious, but quite realistic goal: to provide developers in Ufa and the Republic of Bashkortostan with a platform for interaction - communication, exchange of experience, acquaintance with the latest trends from the world of Google technologies, as well as the implementation of joint projects.

A year ago, active guys from various educational institutions and organizations of Ufa (and the youngest member of our group is studying at school) united in a regional group of like-minded people with the motto “Think globally - act locally!”to jointly understand the latest trends from the world of Google technology at joint meetings, exchange experiences and just get to know each other (we strongly believe that developers from the same city should know each other in person!).

A year later, it was time to take stock and we are pleased to announce that today there are already about 40 of us guys, among whom are a lot of experienced specialists who know Google technologies well. Moreover, the number of people who want to learn how to use them effectively is many times more!

Ufa GTUG: our first ever face-to-face Kick-Off Meeting

During this time, we held 6 face-to-face meetings , namely:
    • Kick-Off Meeting: we met and learned about GTUGs around the world, the CIS, and now in Ufa,
    • two Tech Talks events: we listened to reports on developing applications for Android OS and Google Chrome extensions, after which we found out the answers to all our questions,
    • Demo Night: we familiarized ourselves with the applications for Android OS and Google Chrome extensions created by members of our group,
    • two informal Dev Cafe meetings: we discussed the latest news from the world of information technology, in particular, one of the meetings was dedicated to the Google I / O 2011 developer conference held on the eve of the meeting.

Very soon, at the end of August, we plan to hold a Chrome hackathon with the support of Google’s Russian offices in Moscow and St. Petersburg, with the subsequent participation of the guys in the All-Russian competition and the presentation of the best projects on Google Developer Day 2011 in Moscow. The exact schedule of the event will become known a little later. Follow the news on our blog , as well as on Twitter @UfaGTUG or the hashtag #ufagtug.

It is important to note that we are not going to stop there - we have big big plans for the future! That is why we really hope for your support and with great pleasure are ready to listen to all your ideas and suggestions.

Sincerely, Aigul Zagidullina and Rafael Gilyazitdinov,
organizers of the Ufa Google technology user group, Ufa GTUG
