At Finam FM studio , Alex Atomev, CEO of Look At Me portal, and Alexey Zakharov, president of the SuperJob.ru human resources portal. Together with the host, Maxim Spiridonov, they discuss which trends were most noticeable on the Russian Internet for six months. Experts debate about how Russian residents are trying to influence the state through the Internet, about the development of online cinemas with licensed videos, about changes in the global domain space and the manifestations of this process in RuNet, about the vector of movement of Russian electronic payment systems, about the influence of the state on RuNet and about DDoS attacks on resources significant for our segment of the Network.

    1. In RuNet, attempts to organize civilian control over power are becoming more frequent and more noticeable. From January to June, Rospil.info was gaining momentum - Alexey Navalny’s project to identify corruption in public procurement. As of mid-July, the amount of donations he collected was approaching seven million rubles. March was marked by the launch of the Dalslovo.ru website, which keeps track of promises made by politicians. In early June, another resource was opened under the auspices of Mr. Navalny - “RosYama”, its goal is to ensure social control over the state of Russian roads. Internet activity is also noticeable by other social forces that are in opposition to the authorities, for example, the movement against cutting down the Khimki forest and the organizers of the Anti-Seliger event.

    - Do online projects help establish public control over the state?
    - Alexei Zakharov: “On the one hand, Mr. Navalny is saying the right words, but“ tyring ”is not decreasing, but growing.”
    - Alexey Ametov: “If there is a big campaign in IT against theft in IT itself, there will be fewer market participants willing to go for it.”

    2. In 2011, the development of Russian services for the distribution and display of legal video content continues. There is an increase in the subscriber base among established market players, as well as the emergence of new projects in this area. So, on March 1, under the start of Gazprom, the Now.ru portal was opened, which provides access to its catalog for a fixed monthly fee. In mid-May, an online movie theater was launched with YouTube video hosting. In turn, the MTS company by the end of June allocated its portal Omlet.ru as a separate structure and promises that by the end of the year the volume of content on the resource will double.

    - Will the video content consumption model change globally, and if so, how?
    - Alexey Zakharov: “All attempts to create a video summary on demand are a gloomy, difficult sight, but online interviews via Skype, for example, will develop for certain categories of workers.”
    - Alexey Ametov: “As soon as they make a very simple interface and very simple payment for video on demand, this area will begin to develop rapidly.”
    - Yota will also bet on video content?

    3. One of the current trends in the Internet is the expansion of domain space both globally and locally. In Russia, the launch of zone.rf caused a series of conflicts. Among other things, the Federal Antimonopoly Service in early July recognized the registrar Ru-Center as a violator of the law "On Protection of Competition" due to the fact that the company acquired about 60 thousand domains in the zone. Of the Russian Federation and then sold part of them at closed auctions. Meanwhile, in late March, RBC holding announced that it was buying Ru-Center. On RuNet promise to reflect and recent events of an international scale. In April, the first sites in the .xxx zone were launched, which are designed for resources with pornographic content. In June, ICANN, an international organization that regulates the Internet, approved the introduction of first-level domains with an arbitrary name, and it may also coincide with the names of trademarks. And finally

    - Expansion of the domain space in Russia and in the world: to whom is it useful first of all and how will the market change?
    - Alexey Ametov: “Zona.rf will help radio stations sell ads that mention Internet addresses.”
    - Alexei Zakharov: “Speaking about the Russian Federation, we managed to take money from suckers from the fourth attempt.”
    - Will ICANN's new cybersquatting initiatives nullify?

    4. During the first half of the year in RuNet, there was a noticeable desire of electronic payment systems to increase their availability to the end user.Yandex.Money made it possible to link a bank card to an account in its payment system. Support for online payments using bank cards in June was also introduced by the competing company WebMoney. The Qiwi payment system is planning to put into commercial operation a service in the summer through which it will be possible to pay for goods and services in ordinary, offline establishments from the Qiwi wallet. And Visa, according to preliminary information, is preparing a web service for simple settlements using a bank card. In turn, according to officially unconfirmed reports, the world's largest player in this market PayPal held negotiations in the spring on partnership with Russian mobile operators.

    - What will the current trends in the electronic payments segment turn out to be in the short term? ..
    - Alexey Ametov: “If this continues for another year or two, then soon people will get used to it without fear of paying with bank cards on the Internet rather than electronic money.”
    - Alexey Zakharov: “I have never used electronic money in my life. But on SuperJob.ru, freelancers use them with us. ”

    5. The influence of the state on the Runet for half a year is marked by legislative activity. In May, the State Duma working group received a bill to counter the order, production and distribution of spam. A little later, at the end of June, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed the law “On the National Payment System”. Along the way, for some time, the possible adoption of prohibitive measures against the local segment of the Network by government agencies was exaggerated in Runet. In mid-April, a representative of the Federal Security Service expressed concern that such services as Skype, Gmail and Hotmail are widely used in Russia, while the use of encryption algorithms of foreign origin in them makes it difficult to carry out operational activities. However, soon, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on air of the Russia-24 television channel announced that the state did not intend to introduce any additional restrictions on Runet.

    - Are the authorities capable, even in theory, of blocking access to Skype and Gmail?

    6. In January-June 2011, a number of DDoS attacks were made on resources noticeable in Runet. In late March - early April, such attacks were repeatedly attacked by LiveJournal blog hosting. A few days later, a similar cyber-regression act was committed against the Novaya Gazeta website, allegedly to disrupt the vote for candidates for the Runet’s network parliament. At the end of June, on suspicion of a similar crime, the owner of the company ChronoPay Pavel Vrublevsky was taken into custody. According to investigators, in October 2008, Mr. Vrublevsky launched a DDoS attack on Assist’s servers, which serviced the sale of electronic tickets for Aeroflot.
