Make money on content. Step 2: analysis and selection of a niche, site preparation

This article is in support of the post “ Make Money on Content ”, in which I mentioned that one of the options for choosing a niche for creating a site may be a club about the model of the car that is about to be released.

It so happened that in the summer they decided to buy a car for his wife. Traveled, looked, compared.

The choice fell on the Sandero Stepway. Machine production started in January this year. The model is new, it was interesting to dig information on the network. As a result, a lot of materials were collected and I decided that they could be useful to other people.

So there was a blog about Renault Stepway.

The work on creating the site took 4 days. I want to share with you a description of the work process and the results of its attendance.

    Analysis

    • domain purchased from the remaining free ones: stepwaysandero.ru
    • expectations rating analyzed
    • Viewed all specialized resources and forums for this particular configuration
    • possible audience size analyzed

    Collection of materials

    • Discussed forums on controversial issues and reviews of owners
    • Viewed all information on test drives
    • squeezed out of all the information on: technical specifications, equipment, accessories, crash tests, owner reviews, photo galleries

    Site structure

The collected materials were divided into groups. As a result, the site structure turned out to be very simple.

    Static Pages:
    • Technical specifications with photo gallery
    • Options (in the form of car parts cut from photos and descriptions for them)
    • Information about the site

    Blog Sections:
    • Personal experience
    • Crash tests
    • Accessories (tuning)
    • Opinions and reviews
    • Maintenance

    Engine

For a quick start, WordPress was chosen. Not because I love him very much, but based on the objectives of the project and ease of management.

    Design

Long chose. Almost all day. As a result, I stumbled upon a very nice media theme for WP.

I “finished” it for the rest of the day to the desired look and localization.

    Internal optimization

The selection of queries for internal optimization was quite simple. There are not many of them in RuNet.

Having dug through several forums on this model and looking at the rules that did not prohibit discussing third-party sites, I received the first feedback and a small influx of visitors.

A week later, the site surfaced in search engines due to well-designed materials and competent structure, as well as little competition on the topic. And links on the Web to him began to appear natural.

In addition, a couple of days ago we installed the paid Invision Power Board engine (I wanted to experiment for a long time) and fill it out together with friends.

    Briefly about the result

The site was indexed by search engines about a week and a half ago.

    Bounce rate

    Regions

As you can see from the graphs - the main influx of visitors is from search engines, the bounce rate is still slightly above average, and traffic is steadily growing.

It's too early to talk about earnings, but there are two main options:
    • contextual advertising
    • sale of the site to the amateur club

Total. It is clear that if we were talking about a slightly more complex project, its creation could take a month.

Analysis and search for an unoccupied niche in Runet, a quick start and an attentive attitude to the expectations of the target audience (preparation and processing of information) = key to success.
