Facebook began to pay attention to the psychological state of its users
The Guardian drew attention to the fact that social networks can be used not only as an information channel for revolutions and upheavals, but for the potential saving of human lives.
Recently, Facebook offered users a special form(already in Russian), in which you can report about users who express suicidal thoughts in messages. The information collected in this way is transmitted to the police and charities that are engaged in psychological assistance to potential suicides. The catalyst for the emergence of this mechanism was the case of 42-year-old Briton Simone Back (Simone Back), which brought to life December 25, 2010. Back wrote on her Facebook page that she had taken a lethal dose of pills, but none of her more than a thousand friends took this message seriously. If help had arrived on time, Back would have been saved.
Now it remains only to answer the question - is it not the illusion of intimacy given by the Internet that becomes the cause of suicides or the mechanism proposed by Facebook will really prove to be a useful tool to prevent them ...
