Scientists plan to create Wikipedia for robots

In general, quite interesting, and at the same time, quite strange development - British Swiss scientists are developing a virtual space for robots, which will be a database updated by the robots themselves. According to the plan, the robots will, as it were, learn from each other, receiving new information. Remember Robert Sheckley's short story Bird Guard? This is something similar to the information infrastructure of these "birds" and the developers are going to create it.

I don’t know if they read Bird Guard, and how it all ended, but the developers of the RoboEarth project are sure of success. True, they see some difficulties, because almost all robots differ from each other not only in appearance and functionality, but also in how they perceive the world around them, how they receive information from outside. Scientists hope that it is worth trying to involve in the project those robots whose functions and perception of the surrounding space at least slightly overlap.

By the way, the head of the study is not at all a British scientist who is studying the fragility of cookies in teaand a representative of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology from Zurich. Marcus Weibel, the name of the initiator of the project, believes that the exchange of information between robots can be a very interesting project. As mentioned above, the authors of the development consider RoboEarth something like Wikipedia, only exclusively for robots.

By the way, scientists consider the standardization of robotics to be one of the potential results of the RoboEarth project, which will really allow robots to receive and transmit various kinds of information to each other. By the way, about 35 researchers participate in the project, at present the team is developing a theoretical basis, and hopes to show practical results within four years.

It is a pity, of course, that there is not much specific information about the project, more descriptive information, but as they work on RoboEarth, researchers will post more and more interesting technical details on the project website.
