Largest tidal power station to be built in India

A powerful tidal power plant will be built in the Indian state of Gujarat in the near future. The project is being developed in collaboration with the British company Atlantis Resources Corporation, which is developing turbines for this power plant. Now the places where the turbines will be located have already been identified, and construction work will soon begin. It is worth noting that the initial capacity of the power plant will be 50 megawatts, and then the power of the station will be brought up to 250 megawatts. The project is seen as commercial, so with its help, the authorities of Gujarat hope to receive additional income.

Before starting the construction of the station, it is also necessary to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the possible impact of the station on the environment of the region, but, according to experts, the new power station will not exert special pressure on the environment. It is also worth noting that the project is very expensive - its implementation is estimated at 165 million US dollars, and possibly more.

A similar project will also be implemented in South Korea, on Lake Sihwa. The power of this power station will also be brought up to 250 megawatts. The Indians are going to build their power plant first, wanting to become leaders in introducing alternative energy technologies. By the way, India is the third country in the world in terms of consumption of fossil fuels. At the same time, about 80 thousand Indian villages and villages remain without any power supply at all.

“Tidal power” in India is not as popular as, for example, wind power. The fact is that tidal power plants are quite expensive, and not many regions can use such technology.

At the moment, the most powerful tidal power station in the world is located in France, its capacity reaches 240 megawatts.
