Report on the HackDay # 8 in Yaroslavl
November 20-21, 2010 HackDay # 8 was held. The event was first held in Yaroslavl. The venue was chosen 7th building of Yaroslavl State University. P. G. Demidova (corps of computer scientists and mathematicians).
In total, 50 people took part in the event.
From the moment of launch until November 20th, 72 participants were registered on the site.
Until November 20th, 8 projects were announced on the site. At the presentation of the projects 7 projects were announced.
At the Demofest 5 projects were demonstrated.

Round table
As part of the event, a round table was held on the following issues.
- Can a startup in Yaroslavl survive? What are the big cities (Moscow, Petersburg) creating it here?
- Do I need events like HackDay? How to make an event better?
- Creation of IT-community in the city and the region. If necessary? What for? How can a community be useful?
Demofest Projects
- Wandering Desu
Multiplayer online game. The game is a walker in which you can chat, play Tower Defense together, fight monsters and other players. One of the main achievements within HackDay is the “endless” auto-generated world. - JugglingOnCanvas A
service for jugglers that implements site swap notation. An animation is drawn in the canvas tag (HTML5 standard): a juggler executing a site swap sequence entered by the user. - Location-aware ToDo
Mobile application (for Android) that allows you to set a place and its corresponding task. The application itself tracks the user's location and at the right time reminds of the business planned at the current place. - Roman Algorithm
Implementation of an algorithm that minimizes additional time spent on parallel computing (applications for solving the dynamic multiprocessing schedule problem of size N by M, where N is greater than M). - Guitar battle A
game of the fighting genre, in which control is performed using an electric guitar connected to a computer.
Winners and Nominees
Winners were determined by team voting. Each team was given a questionnaire, the teams had the right to vote for any 3 projects, except their own. Also, the partners who attended the demofest participated in the voting: Tensor company, SeoPuzzle company (as a representative of UMI Soft), Yar GTUG, Mikhail Kechinov Studio.
Teams that took 4th and 5th place received incentive prizes: 3 certificates for annual domains in the zone. Russian Federation, certificates worth 2000 rubles. for purchase in stores Figure.
