A new campaign against Flash advertising has been launched on the Internet

Yes, unfortunately, so far we are talking only about Flash-based advertising, about advertising that sometimes just freaks out. On the most serious, it would seem, site, an advertisement of the most frivolous content may suddenly appear flashing at a speed of several frames per second. And if we are used to not paying attention to the content of advertising, then the blinking that causes a headache is difficult to ignore. In addition, sometimes Flash-banners, loaded by advertising networks to various web resources, violate the design of the page itself. Worst of all, site owners can rarely do something, because only advertisers and ad networks can fix ads.
In general, some users got such an ad so much that a special site was created, flashadsarebroken.com, and launched the eponymous campaign against Flash advertising on the Web. On this site are laid out the most egregious examples of advertising, which is annoying as much as possible. The initiator of this anti-advertising campaign claims that he is not against advertising itself, just advertisers and ad networks should at least first change the “wmode” parameter in the embed code of their banners or other types of advertising to “transparent” or “opaque.”
Often, the webmaster would be happy to correct the situation, but he can not do anything with the advertisements displayed on his site. To remove advertising means to lose money. We have to endure both webmasters and users who are forced to put up with a “bombed” advertising site if the content is interesting. For all this, such cases are not only frequent on some small resources, but also on Facebook and other similar giants of the Internet industry.
In addition, James Yu, the initiator of the campaign mentioned above, would like to convince the online community that using HTML5 to create banner ads is much more efficient than Flash. James believes that sooner or later this will happen, and Flash-based commercials will finally stop violating the harmonious design of various sites. Among other things, Flash often eats up a significant part of the resources of a user PC, and if there is a lot of such advertising, then the page is almost impossible to use - everything slows down on the most powerful PCs. It is clear that much depends on the webmaster here, but it’s worthwhile to try to find a middle ground, which can suit both users, advertisers, and webmasters.
