"Social network"

Yesterday, David Fincher’s Social Network was released in Russia, and its English-language DVD screener appeared in torrents. Since the film is likely to be of interest to many people at Habré, after watching it, I decided to write a text - it can help those who have not yet seen it to decide whether it’s worth watching, and those who have already watched can discuss it in the comments (the main thing is to warn about them before the spoilers).

For the Habr audience, this is primarily a “film about Zuckerberg,” and not just a feature film, and for sure many people are concerned about the question of reliability. I will say right away: do not expect documentary accuracy. It is impossible initially - if only for the reason that the trial shown in the film ended with the signing of non-disclosure papers, and now only those who participated in it know how it really was. However, Fincher got out as gracefully as possible. He does not answer unambiguously sharp questions (did Zuckerberg stole the idea or not steal?), But illustrates the statements of various participants in the very trial; each of the participants, of course, can lie, but the overall picture is still developing, and it turns out to be quite fascinating, informative and convincing. In detail, you may notice inconsistencies (say,

Another question that interested many people was whether it was possible to make a fascinating movie about a nerd who spent most of his life staring at a monitor (once they tried to do this in "Pirates of Silicon Valley" - the result was not particularly interesting to anyone other than IT specialists). So: watching a movie will certainly be interesting even to those who are not at all interested in computers and are not sitting on social networks (in fact, Fincher himself is not sitting on them). Firstly, this film is not about computers, but about people; Facebook itself appears on the screen for only seconds. Secondly, although the entire film consists of dialogs alone, and there is no direct action and the action takes place in standard interiors, the scriptwriter Aaron Sorkin made these dialogues such that nothing more is needed: the action and everything else is contained directly in them. It turned out a very convincing confirmation that

Well, the main character is wonderful - Jesse Eisenberg was already known for “Zombieland” and “Adventureland”, but there he looked like only one of a number of young actors like Shaya LaBeouf, and here he got an extremely impressive Nerd image, no less colorful than Sheldon Cooper, but it’s not so comical and more realistic. I don’t know if Zuckerberg is really like that - but it has been played so convincingly that in the mass consciousness he will now remain just that, even if he tries to refute it himself.

As a result - a great film, both for those interested in Facebook / Zuckerberg, and just for the audience. Viewers agree with this: the other day at the world box office, where the film was released on October 1, the fees exceeded 100 million abroad, for a film without superstars in the lead roles (except for Facebook superstar) this is cool. Well, if for the whole world this is a film about what they already know well, then in Russia, thanks to it, many can learn about Facebook for the first time - it will also be nice. In general, even at the final credits in the cinema, I went from the communicator to facebook.com/thesocialnetwork and clicked on the corresponding button there:
