New ProLiant for Small Business and Home Offices
In the first half of the seventh generation multi-socket model, the eight-socket DL980 server designed for customers from the corporate sector appeared in the HP ProLiant line. In parallel with these models, HP is expanding its HP ProLiant server line for small businesses.
In September, HP introduced the smallest server in the series, called the HP ProLiant MicroServer. This system is half the size of a standard mini-tower (26 by 21 cm, depth - 24 cm) and fits perfectly on the desktop. And her noise level is no more than 21 decibels, i.e. like a regular laptop.
The server uses an AMD Athlon II 1.3 GHz processor, supports the installation of up to 8 GB of DDR3 RAM and up to four 3.5-inch drives. The total storage capacity of the HP ProLiant MicroServer can be up to 8 TB with standard 2TB SATA drives. The standard HP ProLiant MicroServer configuration includes an integrated RAID controller, one Gigabit Ethernet port and two PCI-Express slots (x16 and x1), six USB ports, one eSATA port and a 200 W power supply. As an option, a DVD or DVD-RW CD drive is installed in the server.
The server is certified to work under Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition, Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation and Red Hat 5, and it also successfully tested the operation of the Ubuntu Linux and Windows XP / 7 / Vista operating systems.
The smallest server from the HP Proliant family is designed primarily for small businesses, i.e. firms with up to 15 users. Using HP ProLiant MicroServer in computer networks of such companies will improve the reliability of information storage and retrieval, the system of protection against external threats and the overall network performance, and printing documents on a network printer will be simple and affordable.
In addition, this server can also be used in the home network as a data storage and gateway for connecting to the Internet. All kinds of photographs, films and electronic documents will always be at hand and reliably protected. The server can be used without a monitor and keyboard, which will allow you to easily find a suitable place for it in your home or office.
To simplify server maintenance, you can additionally install a remote control controller in it, with which specialists can configure the server, identify potential problems in its operation and eliminate them from any place where there is an Internet connection. At the same time, maintenance costs are significantly reduced and equipment downtime is reduced.
As a standard, a one-year warranty is provided on the server, which can be expanded for a little money up to three years with various response times.
