Today (for some residents already yesterday) it became known that Skype had applied for the initial public offering of its own shares on the stock exchange with the US Securities Commission. It is still unknown how many shares will be put into circulation that will be available for buyers, as well as not determined and the price of shares.

Interestingly, giants such as Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Securities and Morgan Stanley will support Skype in listing their assets on the IPO. In addition, BofA Merrill Lynch, Barclays Capital, Citigroup Global Markets, Credit Suisse Securities, Deutsche Bank Securities worked as auxiliary investment companies. All this shows how interesting Skype and its assets are for investors (no matter what pessimists say, implying the company's difficult financial condition).

It is worth recalling that closer to the end of 2009, the eBay online auction unit, Skype, was sold to investors for $ 2.75 billion. Then, in an official statement eBay said that the company could not find a place bought Skype in its infrastructure. What to do, sometimes the buyer really does not know what to do with a potentially profitable purchase.

Now, after the company has entered the stock exchange, the expected revenue of the company may be about 100 million US dollars. In general, not so much, considering that the company’s customers now are half a billion (!) People. According to management, in the first half of 2010, the company's customers spent 95 billion tariff minutes. Now the Skype leadership is actively looking for additional ways to monetize the project, and, as we see, everything is going quite well.

It seems that such a project will continue to develop without any problems, there is every chance of success, the main thing for management now is not to miss your chance to make Skype not only popular, but also very successful financially.
