DOCOMO, Fujitsu, NEC, Panasonic and Sharp are going to develop a new platform for mobile applications

    NTT DOCOMO, Renesas Electronics Corporation, Fujitsu Limited, NEC Corporation, Panasonic Mobile, and Sharp Corporation have teamed up to develop a common application platform that can help improve video processing speed and 3D rendering.

    Under the cutter there are a few details and the general scheme of the platform: Companies believe that the development of a common platform will allow them to lower the price of application development and will allow them to invest more resources in the development of new functions in mobile devices. The platform is currently compatible with Symbian and Linux OS, compatibility with Android is under consideration. The first phones on the new platform are expected in 2011.
