Largest Sodium Sulfur Battery

Many offices have uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). Texas city Presidio, constantly suffering from power outages, decided to build its own UPS.

In the photo - the world's largest sodium-sulfur battery called BOB (big-old battery), which acts as a backup power source for Presidio. It can store 4 megawatts for eight hours.

Construction cost $ 25 million, while laying a new power line would cost almost twice as much.
