Keyboard Racing - Stats 2009

I want to introduce a small statistics Klavogonok for 2009

In 2009, 72,107 people registered at Klavogonki . Of these, 10643 drove at least 100 races.

A total of 8438806 texts were typed by all players (the size of one text averaged 200-300 characters).

The most numerous race was recorded on November 26 at 22:00 (competition with x5 rating) - 94 people participated in it .

Next, a few graphs, and at the end of the topic - a magic formula.

Basically, most players pick up with an average speed of 100-200 characters / min. The peak falls at 150 z / min, with such an average speed gaining more than 14 thousand people. The distribution of players by speed (average and record) is given below.

In terms of game ranks, it looks like this:

The most popular was, of course, the “Normal” mode - 6450831 races for 2009. Next to it is the custom “Frequency Dictionary” and “Short Texts”. In total, 1041 user dictionaries were created in 2009 . The 15 most popular custom modes are shown below.

Since the introduction of the rating system on November 1 and the ability to purchase various cars, a total of 483 players were boughtcars. Only purchased cars are accounted for here; the number of “rented” free ranking models directly follows from the distribution of players by rank.

And finally, the most delicious - a little research on the benefits of Klavogonok exercises and the effectiveness of speed improvements. The study was conducted among those 10,643 people who typed at least 100 texts. Of these, 5389 people typed 250 texts or more, 1571 - more than 1000 texts, 414 - more than 3000 texts and 138 - more than 6000 tests. A cumulative graph showing this pattern with a breakdown into categories of players (Y axis on a logarithmic scale for greater exponentiality):

Next, we measure the average speed of these people at the beginning of the year and at the end of the year. 3535 people improved their average speed by 30 characters / min or more; 1846 of them - more than 50 characters / min; 471 - more than 100 characters / min; 134 - by more than 150 characters / min:

As you can see, on a logarithmic scale, the graph is almost straight, which is interesting in itself.

Comparing these two graphs, you can build the most interesting one - the predicted number of typed texts depending on the given improvement in average speed:

    Summarized for all categories:

In the end, the results begin to float, since there are quite a few players who have achieved an average speed improvement of 200 characters / min, but the trend is still visible.

So, we can conclude that if your typing speed lies in the region of 100-300 characters / min, then in order to increase it by the next 50 characters / min, you will need to type about 800 texts on Klavogonok . Of course, this is true only if you do not have extraordinary talents or extraordinary learning disabilities.
