Millions of contact lemmings attack

Many probably saw the contact counter on the main page - us - 50'000'000 with copecks. The number is very impressive, but recently some mysticism has begun to occur, which makes me doubt the reality of this figure :-)

Background: I have mail on my 14.by domain, and catch-all is configured, so letters from any address come to me.

A year ago, by a miracle, a person appeared on Vkontakte registered on the soap on my domain (!!!), although, naturally, he could not have clicked on the activation link. He did some actions, people went to his profile, and notifications of actions rained down on my soap. In the end I was tired of it, I recovered the password, went into the profile, and changed the settings so that nothing would be sent to me. For almost a year, I forgot about such jokes ...

    And then - PEPPERLO :-)
    Almost simultaneously, people appeared

Arthur Karpovich, Shaph@14.by vkontakte.ru/id27936195 (here is a complete resemblance of a living person)
Nikolai Kornishgin, murzik@14.by vkontakte.ru/id58364799 (about this registration came the letter about the need to activate the account, in the profile is almost empty)
    Nicolas Sarkazi, www.nick-footboll@14.by vkontakte.ru/id55545806

What are the opinions of what this phenomenon is? How did they manage to register without confirmation?
Naturally, it is useless to ask them by mail.

Update : A couple of topical stories from readers:

I somehow kept the mail on mail.ru, purely for spam. But not having had time to start using it, only a little more than a week passed from the moment of registration. I suddenly began to receive daily about 50 (!) Notifications about the message that came to me on VKontakte. I simply do not digest this site, therefore I have never been registered there. There was a link in each letter, I forgot exactly how it was called, but it allowed me to go into the VKontakte mailbox and read the messages. I click and suddenly logs in to the name of a person and gives full access to his account in the account. At first I thought it was a glitch and decided to log out so as not to spoil anyone. After that I wrote several letters to the contact support, with the requirements to explain the reason why letters from someone else’s account came to my mailbox. They did nothing and did not begin to explain.

Now I’m thinking, can the VKontakte administration start accounts by activating them knowingly, but registering other people's addresses as an e-mail. By giving them access to these accounts in this way. This means that you get a complete feeling that these accounts are real, since everyone who receives 50 letters a day, I think sooner or later click on the button to read the letter purely for the sake of curiosity.

Every time I meet with such tricks, my opinion about this service is getting worse and worse.
