ViewSonic VPC101 19-inch All-in-One
ViewSonic introduced a 19-inch all-in-one computer. Like other models of this class, this PC actually consists of one touch screen monitor with a resolution of 1366 × 768 pixels, in the body of which all the "iron filling" is hidden.
The latter, by the way, is a typical filling of a netbook of the summer 2009 model: Intel Atom 230 with a clock frequency of 1.6 GHz, 1 gigabyte of RAM and a 160 GB hard drive.
Among other things, we mention Gigabit Ethernet, a Wi-Fi module, a 4-in-1 card reader, and stereo-wheelers. Also in the monoblock there are 4 USB ports, headphone and microphone outputs.
All this farm weighs about 5 kilograms, is controlled by Windows 7 and is sold for 650 dollars.
By the way, in connection with the release of this PC, it seems to me it would be appropriate to recall that as a class of products the all-in-one units failed, without becoming massive. And the prospects in this regard are very vague. The head of the Belarusian representative office of ViewSonic Alexei Novik directly speaks about this :
- At the beginning of the year, it was assumed that as manufacturers will form a segment of inexpensive “monoblocks”, sales of LCD monitors in the range of 299-399 dollars may decrease. Therefore, ASUS, MSI and we went into this business. But really, I don’t see any grand sales and I don’t even think that they will appear. Monoblocks are definitely not to blame for the fall in the market for monitors.
Monoblocks - a niche product aimed at a very narrow audience. You do not receive additional mobility with the purchase of a candy bar. Even when compared with miniPC - it does not take up space, it is attached to the back of the monitor, you can always remove it with you, low power consumption - the benefits are clear. A candy bar? A very small selection of configurations, which also depend on the diagonal - 2-3 models for all. Monoblock - the second, or even the third computer in the house. Well, at a price it is still more expensive than all its individual fillings, and the design is not particularly impressive. I may be wrong, but I do not believe in the prospects of monoblocks.
So think it might be better to buy a good netbook. It costs about the same money.
