Skype agreed with Joltid
Josh Silverman wrote on a Skype blog about an agreement reached with Joltid (owned by Skype founders Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis) regarding rights to use the technology behind Skype. This is very good news for the company, as this arrangement removes the threat to the very existence of Skype and returns its founders to participate in its development.
- Now Skype will own the rights to technology that the company previously only licensed from Joltid
- All lawsuits against eBay, Skype and investors are withdrawn
- Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis will be part of investors acquiring Skype from eBay with a share of 14% and the board of directors of the company
