Today we also added 285 new languages to the service, thus bringing the number of supported languages to 345 and making it possible to translate between 10 644 language pairs!
The service works as follows. For example, if a Russian-speaking reader needs to translate an article from the English Wikipedia into his native language, he can upload it to the Translator Toolkit, edit the automatic translation and then publish it. The Translator Toolkit provides an extensive toolkit that includes translation searches, bilingual dictionaries and ratings. This allows you to translate texts faster and better, and through integration with Wikipedia, also instantly publish them. The great thing is that our automatic translation system constantly remembers and takes into account edits made by translators. Thus, the quality of machine translation between the main 47 languages (which is 98% of the global Internet audience) will become better and better.
Our system is integrated not only with Wikipedia, but also with Google Knol service. The Translator Toolkit supports the most common document formats, including Word and HTML. For professional translators, we provide advanced features, for example, managing terminology and translation memory .
We also made the Translator Toolkit available in 35 languages so that more people around the world can use the service in their native language.
We paid special attention to how the Translator Toolkit will help in the preservation and development of minority languages, because the disappearance of such languages will cause irreparable damage to the knowledge, culture and lifestyle of minority representatives around the world.
