Infect MacOS - get money (the horrors of our town)

At the VB Conference 2009 IB conference in Geneva, Sophos Labs virus analyst Dmitry Samosseikko told the audience about a new phenomenon in the virus writers industry. The speaker’s attention came to the partnerka network of Russian origin, Partnerka, which distributes spam and malware for the Mac. In particular, we are talking about Trojans embedded in pseudo codecs.

An example of such a “program participant” is the already closed Mac-codec.com resource, from which fake codecs and utilities for Mac were distributed. However, the attackers who organized the Partnerka paid a reward of 43 centsfor every fact that a Mac infected them with spyware. On the same site there were also samples of “promotional materials” intended for disseminating among naive poppy people myths about the need to install antivirus software (naturally, fake and destructive).
