R-Words.com - Remember foreign words

    R-words

    Long fascinated by the study of foreign languages, I was looking for a program that would help more effectively memorize new foreign words. On the Internet there are many programs for this purpose, but not all of them are pleased with great functionality. The most suitable in my opinion was LearnWords. But it was a commercial product, and I had to purchase a license key in an online store. When purchasing on the product page there was not a note that this key is valid for only 1 year. And after this period, you need to purchase a new license. I learned this feature of the program only a year later, when the program stopped working. This fact really upset me, because I did not understand why a program, in which only cosmetic changes are made a couple of times a year, must be paid annually.

    So the idea arose to create an Internet service R-Words (Remember Words) for learning foreign words. After a short work (about 1 month), an alpha version with basic functionality was ready. Another 2 weeks were spent on “decorating” the interface and finalizing minor bugs. And now I am ready to submit the beta version of the program to the public.

    Currently, the program has the following features:
    • 3 exercises for memorizing words (mosaic, spelling, translation);
    • “Virtual keyboard” - is intended for entering non-standard characters of the alphabet of the language being studied (for example: à è ù ì ò, etc.);
    • export and import of studied words in XML format;
    • Import dictionaries from LearnWords into our service;

    To simplify user interaction with the site, a manual page has been created . Where the basic steps for working with the service are described in detail. Some pages are equipped with Flash clips showing visually this information.

    In order to evaluate the capabilities of the service, it is not necessary to register. On the “demo” dictionaries created for: English, German, French, Spanish and Italian, you can see how the program works. And if you like it, then go through the registration procedure and start creating your own dictionaries.

    Future plans:
    • to finish Windows and Linux desktop clients (at the moment the programs are 70-80% ready);
    • do audio exercises;

    PS I would be very grateful to everyone for the feedback, tips and comments on the service, which you can leave here or on the service forum. And even more so I will be very happy if this service interests you and you will use it.
