Forbes wrote about Belarusian Silicon Valley

A month ago, a journalist friend contacted me with a request to give contacts of freelance programmers who work at home. Like, this is necessary for an article in Forbes magazine. Honestly, it was hard to believe that a publication like Forbes became interested in my humble friends, but I gave contacts.

It turned out that a colleague did not lie. The other day, a fresh issue of Forbes magazine was released, where one of the main topics of the issue is “Belarusian Bangalore” (as they call the local High-Tech Park and the entire Belarusian IT industry in general). By the way, Bangalore is the twin city of Minsk since the Soviet times ( Bangalore Square in Minsk).

Here is a scan of the article , but the video ( WMV ) on this topic in the program "Business Life". A few more frames under the habrakat.

Judging by the graphs, Belarus and India have approximately the same income from IT exports per capita (in fact, together with the Czech Republic, these three countries are world leaders in this indicator), but Russia and China are far behind.

Of course, there was a big interview with Arkady Dobkin (founder and director of EPAM Systems), a kind of Belarusian bill gates.

They also wrote about the Sacrament company, whose speech synthesis engine is widely used in various software products. By the way, he also works on the Russian television channel TNT in the program "Hunger".

They also talked about the modest salaries of Belarusian IT specialists, who before the crisis received 50-70% less than their Russian counterparts.
