Sony DR-BT21G Bluetooth Review and Selection History

Over the past couple of years, I really wanted a Bluetooth headset for myself, but because of the high cost and non-proliferation of them, I just drooled on pictures on the Internet. The last six months, I have been actively looking for custom-made headphones in Ukraine, as there was work, money, I wanted to fulfill my dream.

At first I looked at the headphones from Logitech, but as it turned out later, they were not BT, but used their own transmitter (like everything from Logitech). After that, I came across Genius headsets and the possibility of ordering them in the city, here are such models: BT-02N SE , BT-03A , but after reading the Internet, there were many negative reviews, I did not dare, because 120 bucks.

And about six months ago, on the Sony site I saw the DR-BT21G and was just in shock. Firstly, they look awesome in appearance, secondly worthy in terms of characteristics, thirdly in terms of small reviews, she really played well.

And so, when I searched for it online for six months, and did not find it, I accidentally went to the Foxtrot store (supermarket for equipment, such as Eldorado, only in Ukraine) and saw it, for 400 hryvnias (less than $ 50), a new one, with a guarantee , packaged!

Now, after a week of using it, I want to talk about it.

    So, first, the design.

The headphones are folding, with an occipital mount on the head, quite small in the opened form and compact in the folding form (they fit easily into the shirt pocket). I bring 2 photos in comparison with a regular computer mouse:

The hinges in which it is folded look reliable in appearance, they are not fixed with a latch.

The buttons are located only on the right earphone, them:
    1. Volume control button, they are a single button
    2. Power button (and pairing controls)
    3. Player control button. She walks in both directions (song forward / backward) and is pressed (start / stop)
    4. Phone control button (answer, activate voice dialing)
    5. Actually this is not a button :) just a microphone
    6. Indicator - two LEDs, blue and pink.

    Buttons

The control buttons are pressed quite easily, with a stroke that you can feel.

    Now, consider interaction with devices.

Because Since headphones support simultaneous communication with several devices, they were checked in this mode for a long time (if you can talk about a week of using headphones at all :) Pairing devices occurs 1 time (headphones remember up to 10 devices) by simply pressing the power button for 7 seconds and then adding them on the phone / player / pda. After that, at any time, a familiar device can connect to them.

I connected a SE k800 phone and a Dell Axim x51v PDA (with WM6.1 and Broadcom drivers).

When the PDA and phone are connected, the music is controlled on the PDA, anyway in what sequence it was connected, and the phone buttons directly control the phone (turn on voice dialing, answer). A very pleasant surprise was that when they call the phone, the headphones stop the player, and after the call, turn it on from the same place.

There are no complaints about connecting devices and managing them. Unfortunately, when using one phone, I noticed a weirdness. No matter where the phone is, when you turn your head to the right, the connection is interrupted, and returning your head, the music continues to play. When using a PDA as a player, there is no such problem, even if it lies in a backpack.

And so, we got to the main part, the assessment of sound quality.

I checked the sound quality at my hearing on various music played from the phone and PDA, as well as listening to podcasts and receiving calls from a mobile phone (comparing with Sennheiser pmx100 wired headphones), a couple of friends with different musical tastes and capabilities, and 1 “music lover” with almost hard rock music. Immediately make a reservation, all the music was in mp3 with a bitrate from 192 to 320.

As a person who is not very versed in music, I listened alternately to synchisers and sony. High and low do not differ much, bass is better with Sony (surprisingly), and Sony does not start to crack at maximum volume. On all the songs heard, sony were comparable or better than synheiser.

A friend, a lover of heavy music, immediately said that Sony is better. In addition to synchaser, he compared SonyEricsson phones with fairly high-quality Walkman headphones. After such an assessment, he was proud of Sonya.

And last, how much they live.

According to my measurements, when used with a PDA and a phone immediately in the mode of listening to music, they live up to 10-11 hours - I listened to kill them. If you listen in my mode (2-3 hours of music per day, 6 hours in standby mode), then they lived 4 days, which for myself, I think is an excellent indicator.

Using the Sony headphones as an example, I believe that Bluetooth headphones have already achieved good quality and runtime, so those who are against the wires should consider buying.

UPD: I will answer questions from the comments.
In my opinion, they are quite durable, do not hang out and look solid.

In terms of working distance, they work with a computer about 5-7 meters through the wall (I went from 1 room to another). With a smaller phone, apparently the transmitter is weaker.

You can lie with them on your back, slightly fall from your ears, but not very critical. Also, as they said in the comments, with long hair there will be a little discomfort when they are removed, because 1 hinge without a latch, can catch on the hair.
