DNK | PRIME. Part One: Design

When developing a new design for the MINI-ITX standard, we focused on strict appearance, added a little gaming aggressiveness, a bit of vintage and elegance. All this resulted in symmetrical lines in a very compact size. We immediately abandoned the frame structure, making the design monolithic, where every detail is machined on a CNC machine and is a rigid base, fasteners and decorative elements. Thanks to this, it became possible to apply more efficient air exchange and excellent finishing. This design provides excellent rigidity of the whole structure, protection from vibrations and external influences, such as ingress of liquids and small metal objects inside, which fully complies with the European standard for PC cases that use internal power supplies.



With this approach, standard technologies for the manufacture of PC cases have become superfluous: cutting, stamping, bending, welding, riveting, painting, iron. For 3 parts of air exchange, the original shape is set by extrusion of aluminum with a pressure of 2500 tons.

In developing the layout design, we tried several options. Vertical, which was not sufficiently stable, horizontal, which took up a lot of space on the desktop. As a result, the current layout turned out to be the most optimal, and the absence of holes in the upper part of the body allows the working space to expand.

Охлаждение

For successful air exchange, we used a lamella design. The lamellar design has one and a half times the larger airflow area than the design with many openings. In the lamellar design, all the space in front of the motherboard and the GPU is involved in the movement of air, from the very top to the very bottom. Also, there are no air pockets.



The optimum thickness and depth of the slats creates an interesting visual effect. Air vents are visible only at right angles. At an angle of more than 15 ° they are hidden.

Power Supply

The entire front part of the case is reserved for an SFX, SFX-L power supply unit. Recommended location - fan to the motherboard. This arrangement removes the warm air from the body and throws it into the front, upper part.

Information storage

You can install up to 4 drives of information, depending on the specific configuration of the expansion card PCI-e:

• Dual Slot Card - 2 x 2.5 ”
• Single slot card - 2 x 2.5 ”+ 1 x 3.5”
• No PCI-e card - 2 x 2.5 ”+ 2 x 3.5”

An additional 3.5 "drive can be useful when using professional sound cards and video capture cards, and in the absence of a PCI-e card, you can organize a fairly large server, or NAS.

Graphic Accelerators

Today, almost all manufacturers produce video cards for mini-systems. You can pick up graphics ranging from Nvidia GeForce GT610 and ending with the GTX 1070.



We would like to dwell on one new product. Last year, AMD introduced a new series of graphics accelerators for professional use: Radeon PRO WX, significantly reducing prices in the professional segment. In our opinion the most interesting of them is the Radeon PRO WX 5100 .



This accelerator is based on a fellow RX470 with a 256bit memory channel and 8Gb DDR5 on board. With our first production model, we will definitely test the AMD Ryzen 7 1700 + Radeon PRO WX 5100 bundle.

Assembly without screwdrivers

We have simplified the process of assembly / disassembly of the body. All basic operations can be carried out without screwdrivers. For this purpose, spring-loaded screws for manual twisting and silicone seals are used for more secure fastening. By the way, the fasteners of the motherboard, power supply and hard drives are equipped with rubber anti-vibration inserts.

Collected in Russia

For our Russian buyers, we plan to assemble the hull and configuration in Russia. This will speed up the delivery time, reduce its cost and make it possible to deliver cash on delivery. Also, it will be easier for us to provide technical support and warranty.
