Many did not understand the reasons for my decision. Many expressed the idea that a programmer should know his own worth, and understand that he is just a tool in the hands of the customer, and a good or bad customer is not important. That is, they expressed themselves in the sense of “Whoever eats a girl dances her.”
I tried to object in my own words ... but just in the subway, reading the book " Project Russia " I read up to an interesting chapter on the driving forces of mankind in general and man as a component of humanity in particular. There are a lot of interesting things written there, I recommend this book to everyone to read, but I will give only a few quotes about freedom. I just have nothing to add to this
The main difference between a person and other types of life is not the mind and, of course, not the body. The main thing is free will, the ability to make choices. I do as I want, and therefore I am a man. My decisions do not depend on external circumstances, but on something internal. The state of freedom or lack of freedom is an internal state. Man is a synonym for freedom. The more I am free, the more I am a man. And vice versa - without freedom there is no man. Absolutely unfree man ceases to be a person. He turns into an animal subject to instincts or someone else's will. The extreme version of unfreedom does not appear when the body is shackled. Extreme lack of freedom occurs when consciousness is constrained.

It turns out that the more internal freedom, the more man and less animal. And no instinct, even the instinct of self-preservation, is a decisive argument. An absolutely free person does not know half-tones, does not know compromises. He is a completely closed system, he is completely independent, and if this is impossible, he dies. But he dies free, choosing himself, and not by order of fear or passion. Even the fear of death cannot change the actions of the free, because it is free from the power of fear. He is above fear. He is the master of fear, not his slave.

If the highest person is a free person, then the highest form of self-esteem is a claim to the title of a free person. Low self-esteem turns a person into a smart animal, completely in the grip of instincts and desires. Nothing prevents an animal from satisfying, for example, a feeling of hunger, eating together with dogs in the garbage. People become homeless not because of life circumstances, but because of zero self-esteem. They are not ashamed to do what they do, because they do not value themselves.

The foregoing is enough to understand that the mass is moving, following the free warriors of the spirit. Since the elite’s highest value is freedom, the prime mover of human history is the desire to be free. If you want to be free, become one. No one is able to forbid you from doing this. If the circumstances you fear are in the way, overcome them. If you can’t, then you’re doing not what you want, but what fear commands you to do. You are a slave, not a free one, because you cannot order a free spirit.
