Microsoft is preparing a smartphone running NetBSD

The company Danger , which is now a Microsoft subsidiary, produces a new image 3G smartphone in the line of the LX Sidekick Sidekick running ... the NetBSD . Such information appeared on the forum of fans of devices of this line .

After Microsoft acquired this company , it was logical to assume that the unit will produce smartphones based on the Windows Mobile platform, however, apparently, the new authorities decided not only not to interfere in the work of the unit, but also help in the development of the device. After searching a bit on the Internet, you can find traces of the fact that MS has recruited NetBSD specialists ( here and here ).

Unfortunately, very little is known about the device itself, of the features it is a retractable qwerty keyboard, a large 854x480 screen, GPS, and of course the standard "Internet focus."

What is it, just MS decided not to destroy the previous developments and teams, or after Apple is testing the capabilities of the BSD world in the world of mobile devices, and maybe not just mobile, what the hell is not joking, time will tell.
