Google will digitize 10 million textbooks
The twelve largest universities in the United States have launched a new program, which is being implemented jointly with Google . Its purpose is to digitize the contents of libraries - this is about 10 million book volumes - so that students, teachers and all interested could get quick access to educational and other materials.
Content, according to Google, will be crawled and indexed “in full compliance with copyright laws.” Harvard and the University of California are planning to join the current participants in the project (these are the universities of Illinois, Iowa, Ohio, Minnesota and several others).
