In this post we will talk about the phone itself, its characteristics, as well as about software. When writing this review, I use not only my personal opinion, but also the views of other users.
Perhaps we will not dwell on the technical description of the phone. I will try to comment on a few "myths" that arise when reading some reviews or reviews. I would like to say right away that reviews like “the phone is awake, slows down, clumsy, creaks, you're all fools here” are most often left by those who never held the device in their hands. So, let's begin.
    1. The phone is very slow.
-Watching what is meant by this word. Yes, the phone sometimes “thinks” for 1-2 seconds, at this moment you will most often see a banal black screen, and then calmly work. This occurs if you have more than 10-15 applications open. The accelerometer works at 5, it takes less than a second to rotate the screen.
    2. Very little workable software.
-That's not quite right. For me, the presence of a browser, ICQ and a Jabber client, a reader program, and a convenient file manager are important. All this can be found for the 5800, you do not have to experience problems with functionality
    3. Due to the lack of buttons with the phone it is very inconvenient to work.
      - I'll just say it. Two to three days after buying a phone, you will begin to hate a mechanical keyboard. Addiction is so fast that you won’t even notice it.
    4. The phone has a bad camera.
      - Under various shooting conditions, the camera in the device produces images of completely different levels. Yes, sometimes the camera does not shine, but often this is due to autofocus. The video device shoots perfectly.
    5. "Raw" firmware.
-In this version of firmware (10) there really are some flaws. But they do not affect the functionality of the phone. In January, a new firmware version (12) is released, which can be free and easy to update via Nokia Software Updater.

The following is a small list of available software.

This list is compiled on the forum.nokia5800.ru forum and, at the moment, includes almost all the software that is absolutely operational on 5800.

So, at the request of the Habrovsk citizens, without delay, I will supplement the article.
Firstly, I would like to say that it was extremely difficult to buy this phone, especially in the first weeks. In small cities, such as mine (Kaluga), phones were imported in batches of 3-5 each, and they were all taken apart for the first day. But omit the details. Having obtained the treasured box, I first checked the phone for authenticity. Why did I check IMEI by dialing * # 06 # - and compare whether it matches the number on the box. Then he called the Nokia hotline (8-800-700-2222) and dictated IMEI to them, after which I was assured that the phone was genuine, and I began to study the device.
    Included with the phone are:
    • 5800 XpressMusic with stylus pen
    • battery (BL-5J)
    • high power charger (AC-8)
    • headset (HS-45, AD-54), Video-out cable (CA-75U)
    • cable for connecting to a computer (CA-101)
    • microSDHC memory card 8 GB (MU-43)
    • case (CP-305), stand (DT-29)
    • Stylus Pen with Strap (CP-306)
    • user manual and quick start guide, mini DVD
    • Extra stylus pen

After checking the equipment, I turned on the phone. Downloading is really fast, it takes about 20-30 seconds to wait. We are immediately greeted by the setup wizard, which helps us to set the date and time, the language of the phone, as well as transfer data from the old Nokia phone (calendar events, for example). Then comes a message from MyNokia, a service offering support, tips and tricks for your phone. The service is free, so just click accept.
The device itself is conveniently in the hand, the sides at the edges of the screen do not allow it to be scratched if it is on the table, while absolutely not interfering with the phone. The red stripe (or blue) does not strike the eye, but it looks quite beautiful, especially in good light. It is convenient to work both right-handed and left-handed. However, when typing on a full-screen keyboard, a large distance to the screen sometimes leads to inconvenience, corny fingers do not reach.
On the front side of the device there are only three keys - receiving and canceling a call, as well as a button for entering the menu, it also calls up a list of running applications. On the sides are volume control buttons, a slide key responsible for locking the phone, a camera button. On the other hand, there are two stubs under which slots for SIM cards and a memory card are hidden.
The back panel is easily removable, but firmly fixed enough. The stylus is attached not to the phone case, but to this panel itself, which gives a more reliable fixation. On top there are two connectors - charging and a 3.5 headphone jack, a plug under which there is a connector for connecting a cable, as well as a phone on / off button. On the screen is the XpressMusic touch button, a camera for video calls, and the sensor responsible for locking the screen during a conversation.
The phone menu is simple and clear, there are two types of display - a list and icons, of course you can move, replace and delete icons. Changing modes is done with one click, access to the calendar is just as easy. You can set one of two active standby modes (4 links to contacts or 4 links to applications) or refuse them altogether.

You can enter text in four ways.
    • Handwritten
    • Alphanumeric keyboard
    • Small qwerty
    • Fullscreen qwerty

It’s convenient to work without a stylus, with your finger, all the icons are quite large. Access to the most necessary phone functions (Internet, player, video, gallery) is carried out with one click. The phone works quickly. As I said, brakes are possible when the phone is heavily loaded, in all other cases it does not slow down at all, it opens applications quickly, it does not hang. For a whole month, I never had to restart it by removing the battery. The sound quality is on top, the speakers even give out low frequencies. Naturally, various equalizer settings are available, they can be changed, customized for you. The quality of communication is also not satisfactory. GPS works well, for starting there is enough communication with 6 satellites, the error for such a device is very small - from 5 to 50 meters.

That’s all, it seems. Thank you for attention.
