Kwippy? .. Kwippy!

    Preamble

My hobby for microblogging began in June this year. On the very day that kenobi wrote his article about Plyurk . On the same day that I registered there . On the very day when in one fell swoop I made an incredible number of friends , many of whom to this day delight me with their presence in icq, jabber'e and other interesting places.

It was summer, there was a vacation, and it was a carefree time: I spent several hours a day on Plurk (to tell the truth - I spent all my "computer" time on it!). Then time became sorely lacking, and after some deliberation I stopped reading other people's messages on Plyurka: I wrote my own and read the answers. A few days ago I wrote a message stating that I was leaving completely. I left, but I do not regret the time I spent there.

My alter ego moved to Twitter , since Plurk helped fill up the list of friends.

    Closer to the point

This morning I received an invite (from Comrade ainokaze ) for the next microblogging service - Kwippy. In this article I will try to talk about what the developers wanted to achieve, and how they got it (in my humble opinion). So meet: Kwippy !

    Essence

Registration on the site - by invitation. But, interestingly, all registered (by invitation) users can send invitations. If you need invitations - leave your e-mail, I will add it to my spam database, I will try to send you an invite.

Immediately after registration you will be asked to enter your username / password from Twitter (optional). Interestingly, this data is not stored on the site, but is used only for compiling a list of friends.

Enter the data, click Submit, and get the following:

I still admire the guys, and there is something! On this form, all users are divided into 3 categories (only 2 are visible on the screenshot): those who have already registered, who have not yet received an invite (they are not in the screenshot), and who received the invite, but have not registered yet. What did I like about this performance? And the fact that one person does not receive 20 invites from his friends is a maximum of 1!

    Twitter or Plurk?

What does Quippi look like: on Twitter, or on Plurk? Here’s the picture for you, decide for yourself:
    image

If you look at the functionality, it’s a mixture of Twitter and Plyurk (something like Jaiku): you can write your messages (in the manner of Twitter), and comment on them (in the manner of Plyurk). Typical of such Jaiku, without the ability to insert rss feeds (although it is better not to insert them at all than the way Jaiku inserts them).

As you can see from the last picture, messages (for now!) Are added without any ajax, as is the case on the Internet recently.

    Status Messages

A distinctive feature of Quippi is the gtalk bot, which helpfully (along with the mail, or instead of it) will inform you of new messages, changes and other crap on the site.

In addition, if you suddenly decide to change the status message in gtalk, you will see a new message on the site (this can be seen at the very top in the last picture). And Quippi can be made friends with Facebook and Yahoo: then the “local” statuses will be transferred to Quippi (I have not tried it yet, naked theory! )

    User profile

If you want to see the advanced user profile, you will see it. But I do not promise that you will immediately like it.

Of course, the designer and layout designer have much to strive for, but we will make a discount on the novelty of the project. I think that by the joint efforts of those who are interested, everything will be done in the near future.

I think for a brief review there is already enough text for anyone interested - write in the comments, send an invite. The project is worth a visit. At least in order to understand how it is / is not worth doing some things.

That's all, until we meet again, gentlemen and comrades! May the horse, the bucket and the Good be with you!
