Unix hosting is a dead end
Recently I find myself thinking that Unix hosting is a dead end for development.
The main problem is the impossibility of limiting sites in either mod_perl or mod_python etc.
The only solution is for PHP only.
Unlike ASP.NET hosting.
What actually makes impossible high-quality virtual hosting for RoR, Zope etc.
Based on the comments, a little explanation:
1) virtual hosting, unfortunately, is still quite in demand with us. Many people need cheap hosting, and even with the support of modern technology. Although, of course, the future belongs to VPS.
2) for shared hosting, the ability to set limits on the set of provided APIs, the amount of memory consumed per request, server load, is important.
PS: yes, a provocation. For unix developers do not moo or calve.
