Mobile Core 2 Quad
As part of its Developer Forum starting on Monday, Intel will announce several new CPUs. Among them will be the first mobile processors with four cores, which will be released on 45 nm technology Core 2 Quad Q9100 and Core 2 Extreme QX9300, oriented to work at frequencies of 2.26 and 2.53 GHz, respectively. The processors will use a 1066 MHz bus and have a 12 MB L2 cache.
Four-core CPUs for mobile systems, like their “desktop” counterparts, will consist of two physical crystals combined on one substrate. The difference from the usual Yorkfield will be in the absence of a heat dissipator cover and orientation on installation in the 478-pin Socket P processor socket, traditionally used in mobile platforms.
