Full-text video search appeared on YouTube

Announced in June, YouTube still has a full-text search function for videos. The video material is published along with a special layer of metadata, which contains the accompanying text. The developers claim that speech recognition and the creation of a metadata layer is automatic. Thus, the content of videos can now be easily indexed by search engines. For example, you can quickly find a record of each phrase spoken by a politician throughout his life.

An example with politicians is given for a reason. The point is not only that they often contradict themselves throughout their careers, and now it can be easily opened. The fact is that at the moment, full-text search is available only for selected videos on the US election campaign: these are McCain and Obama promos and some other political materials. Full-text search on them is carried out from the You Choose page .

While watching a video with metadata, just move the cursor over the status bar to display the accompanying text.
